I have clocked 43000 km on my bike and is still riding it everyday. I am pretty happy with the ride quality and performance of the motorcycle. My longest trip with it is 462 kms from Meerut to Agra and back in one day. I have done small trips ranging from 120 to 200 kms from Meerut to Delhi, Meerut to Noida, Meerut to Panipat, Meerut to Rishikesh and still go to my classes in Delhi every weekend.
Most of the reviews which I have read about the Discover 125ST are negative, like people will feel tingly, brakes sucks, back aches, loud engine, vibrations etc.
My review, yes it has vibrations, but I haven't got tingly sensations after my ride. Yes backaches, if i ride it for over 80-90km in a single stretch. Brakes do not suck. Engine is loud as it is made to deliver power, which it does. To paint a picture I am 6 feet 5 (195 cm to be exact) and now I weigh 104kgs
I have ride this motorcycle when I was 130 kgs also.
I don't have access to good mechanics here in my city, Meerut UP and Bajaj dealers tend to focus more in newer and costly bikes rather than old and discontinued bike. I intend to keep the bike but i don't know much about motorcycles! i just go to the dealer and get it serviced regularly. It has developed the vibrations now.
Now if anyone can help me with the questions I have like:
1. Is the vibration due to shock absorber? Should I replace the wheel bearings and swing arm bearing to reduce them?
1. It has a Endurance gas charged rear mono shock absorber. What is the life of a monoshock? What kind of service it requires? Like gas pressure or oil replacement?
2. Where I can buy spare parts online as it's not available in India?
3. How can I squeeze out more performance out of it by using a CDI unit?
P.S. I don't want to sell the thing as it has a lot of emotional value attached and I like riding the thing.
