  • Rev Matching / Throttle Blip during Run In Period

    Hi,
After getting a new Gixxer SF 250cc ride, I was riding it fo get used with it. However, on the previous bike, I used to blip the throttle before downshifts, not just on high RPMs but on the normal shifting RPMs like 4k to 5k. Now, on the new ride, I followed the same practice. Yeah, it is the break in period, but the downshifts are smoother with the blip. I shift down at a lower RPM only, between the 4k to 5k band.

Now after a days ride of around 80km, when I stopped amd listened to the sound, I hear some kind of knocking sound (like tak tak tak) while the clutch is engaged (lever released) in neutral. Also, I have heard the same sound while riding and accelerating after a gear change. I have the following doubts regarding this.

    1. Is this sound anyway connected to me doing the blipping at the lower RPMs?
    2. If not, what could cause this sound when clutch is engaged? The sound goes off when I squeeze the clutch lever.
    3. Lastly, without a blip, the gear down shifting is not very smooth as it is with the blip. Is this normal? Blipping or not blipping, which one cause morr damage?

Need your valuable inputs. Thank you.

It can be due to loose tappets. Since you are in break-in period, its common to hear that sound. When you go for your next service, tell the service centre, they will solve your problem.
