  • Bajaj Pulsar 150 not running smoothly

    Dear professionals,

First of all I apologize for my bad English.

    I have a Pulsar 150 2011 model. Odo at 27,000 kms.

A few days back, I got the restoration of the engine done.

Now, after it has ran for over 1,000 kms with an average speed of 50 km/h, whenever I take it over 60, it kind of loses power. It is like having having to push it more than I did before. The mechanic who has been taking care of my bike for the past 6 years, says that it might be because of a problem with the carb.

I really don't understand what is going on. I have to make so much effort to make it go faster.

What should I do? Please help.

I'm not an expert but I've had my fair share of issue with power loss on my P150. Like your mechanic said, the most likely issue would be with the carb (Since you're losing power only above a certain speed). The carb however is a very sensitive part and it needs to be tuned and diagnosed by someone who really understands it. I've had my share of shitty mechanics change the float chamber and the jet pin but still faced issues.

The last time I faced a loss of power, my trusted mechanic changed a diapragm in the carb which had disintegrated over a period of time. The difference in pickup was amazing.

Having had your bike engine restored, if your mechanic is not able to fix the carb, I would recommend changing mechanics.
