Best chain for R15S/V2? Stock, Rolon or any other?
Hey all, I'm looking for installing Rolon NXR 180 (47/15 T) on my R15S. I'm in a search of the review for the same. I have clocked 53k on my odo. My 1st set lasted for ~26k (Now, the last sprocket tightening setting was done at ~22k and next roughly 3.5-4k kms the chain slack was good enough to make me change the whole set. The 2nd set of chain and sprocket will still do roughly about 3-4k kms and it's currently have one more sprocket adjustment left. Both the sets are STOCK. I'm a regular chain lube and cleaning doer. So roughly have an idea that the whole chain sprocket set (Stock) lasts for me around ~26k kms. My concern was is it good to switch to other manufacturers especially Rolon NXR 180 which is regular 'O' ring same as the Stock. Will it last longer or shorter than the current Stock set I'm using. Rolon costs around Rs.1500/- and Stock around Rs.1800/- but price is not my concern. Now i know Yamaha Chain and Sprocket sets are long-lasting and trustworthy too because of it's quality. They are very good. I'm more on a performance side as i do 80-85% Highways that too rev range keeping around 7-9k. I just wanted to know if the Rolon is better than the stock or should i just buy a new stock set again.

Re: Best chain for R15S/V2? Stock, Rolon or any other?
The stock chain of the R15S/V2 is made by Rolon. You have certain iterations of the same chain, Rolon Gold Brass Plated X ring chain. I would suggest you to search near your place and try to get hold of this. If you did, go for it. If you cannot, stick with the stock. All company chains, are, for the most part O ring meaning, plain O ring.Originally posted by Sidsutar7 View PostHey all, I'm looking for installing Rolon NXR 180 (47/15 T) on my R15S. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Is it worth spending 600-700 more for the said chain? What all difference it will make upon the stock? And is it true that the X ring chain will last longer than the O, because of it's lesser drag?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThe stock chain of the R15S/V2 is made by Rolon. Re: Best chain for R15S/V2? Stock, Rolon or any other?
You can pay extra for a lot of finer aspects of the chain, which can be the different plating process, to the type of O rings used etc. But eventually, all chains O X or Z will last depending on the maintenance proved to it by the user. Adequate lubrication coupled with periodic cleaning will make any chain last longer. Too tight a chain will eventually wear faster than a slightly looser chain. Chain slack, periodic lubrication and care are key to extending and extracting life from a given chain set.Originally posted by Sidsutar7 View PostIs it worth spending 600-700 more for the said chain?
