  • Engine oil depletion

Engine oil level drops to low after 500-1,000 kms in my Pulsar 220F. But there is now white smoke from the exhaust.

    What could be the issue?

Check for white smoke again. There will be a small amount of white smoke. If you don't see any white smoke, then there must be an oil leak somewhere.

        1) Oil ring in piston is gone
        2) Crankcase breather pipe that allows gases and a little bit of oil to escape is blocked
        3) Crankcase gaskets are leaking, look around the entire engine and see if there is a leak
        4) Check seal of sparkplugs they tend to leak
        5) Check oil cooler pipes and connectors

Chill Madi, if you don't find oil on the spark plug then you have an external leak, do have a look at the head cover and then the shifter seals. If you're loosing oil from there do change the concerned consumable and you'd be good to go.

After 1.5~2k Kms of riding drain oil and see how much you get, if it's anything above 800ml then you're good to go.

P.S. Pulsar's eat away at synthetics, so do make sure to stick to mineral oils and do not extend drain intervals.

How to check for silencer smoke correctly?

White smoke from exhaust means piston rings are not sealing properly. Otherwise there might a physical leak as others mentioned. There is an crankcase breather tube which connects from LHS cover to your airbox, where your airfilter is located. Remove the airfilter to check if its too damp or the box inside smells of burnt oil, use mobile phone flashlight to see. Old P200 models are known for this issue which is otherwise very rare but might be whats happening in your case.
