  • A quite light weight exaust for pulsar 220

    Hi, guys.

I am looking for an end can/muffler or full exhaust replacement for my Pulsar 220 as the existing one has cracked open. It has a leak and also something rattles inside. I also find the stock system way too restrictive. A new one costs around 13,000 which I am not willing to spend. Looking for an aftermarket or stock from another motorcycle.

    Priorities are:
It should not be louder than stock
    Should flow better than stock
    Should be lighter than stock

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any aftermarket alternatives that flow better but are not loud?

I have tried and tested a handful of aftermarket exhausts on my Karizma ZMR, sold it last year. There are aftermarket exhausts which come with DB KILLER. It's a small muffler pipe which can be attached or removed easily but they can never be as silent as a stock exhaust, they will sound louder under heavy acceleration.

You must already know that the amended Motor Vehicle Act has got provision for heavy fines, so nowadays traffic cops have got much more greedy and look for any excuse to impose fines. An aftermarket exhaust will attract their attention for sure. I would suggest not to get an aftermarket one to avoid the anxiety of constantly avoiding traffic cops.

Logically, you should not install a stock exhaust of a lower capacity engine like pulsar 180, since those are designed for lesser amount of airflow compared to your 220 cc engine. You can buy exhaust of any other brand like Hero, Honda, Yamaha (a 220cc or higher model) and get it welded to the exhaust pipe, since the exhaust header will not fit in your engine head. Also keep in mind that most of the stock exhausts of suzuki, Yamaha come with an underbelly exhaust box which contains the catalytic converter, they would rarely fit in pulsar 220 due to lack of space. You will have to look for straight pipe exhausts.

I just googled and found a website selling spare parts, Karizma's stock exhaust assembly sells for around rs. 7800.
