  • Karizma R

Hello, I have a 2009 Karizma R with currently 74,000km covered. I am from Bangalore, and I'm the fourth owner of the bike. The bike is still in running condition and I need assistance on a good mechanic in Bangalore who knows about this bike. Also, I need help on the best engine oil. I use the bike for daily office ride which is 25km one way. So everyday, I ride 50km+-. I hardly cross 70kmph while riding.

    Please help me.

I'm currently staying in hoskote. But I'm willing to travel any distance within bangalore if the mechanic is really good.

Oh balls that is way opposite where I used to stay in Nagarbhavi, try near Tansi Honda Ramagondanaghalli there were some workshops there who could fix up the engine, but if there is an issue with the plastics then it gets difficult.

There actually is issue with the full plastic body. The previous owners have broken down the full plastic part, and I've somehow done some jugad and got those put back together with bolts and nuts.

Then if it is the fairings that you need then it becomes difficult

              1) you would have to buy the fairings which means you have to roam around JC road and others to meet up with a Hero parts distributor and get it, usually the official parts people would not help stating that it is an old discontinued model, but you can try. While there are online sellers for parts I would not be so confident about them but still you can try safexbikes(dot)com but I will not hold any thing as guarantee.

              2) After that getting the parts you would have to meet a mechanic.

Thank you so much for those suggestions. Also, as per my rides, which engine oil would you recommend? As started earlier, I am a regular rider, with 50kms total in a day. Fortunately the complete ride is on highway without much traffic or signals.

Any 10w30 oil would be best see Castrol or valvoline, if you cannot find 10w30 go for 10w40.

All the talk about motul and full synthetic are for those who really take the bike at high speeds ; for daily normal use of the grade is correct almost any oil brand will do

Try Motul 3100 10w30. Its a mineral oil and for your needs it does its job really well and is cost effective. I would not suggest crapstrol (yes crapstrol) if its not Power1 racing we are talking about. Its worse than your Hero branded engine oil. You can use Motul between 2000-2500kms comfortably without needing any topups given your engine doesn't burn oil. Your engine is already a Honda engine so I don't think you'd be having vibrations or hard gear shifts otherwise I would have suggested you to try Motul 5100 once.
