  • KTM RC 390 ABS Not Working !!!

    I have a KTM RC 390 (2015). It was affected by the 2018 Flood in Kerala. I had the battery removed before it got flooded. I had it fixed by local mechanic as KTM SC was super expensive (about 32K to get wiring and other stuff replaced ABS Module not included). The mechanic drained the oil, cleaned the filters and got it started. Speedometer was not working and other info was partially working. I had it sun dried and WD40-ed most of the connectors and managed to fix all thing except the speedometer. The ABS sensor is fine looks like the ABS has some issues.

    My Questions are:

    1. Can the ABS module get damaged by flood despite it being sealed just like ECU (which is not damaged)?
    2. Can it be Repaired?
    3. Or is it caused by other connectors?

      [QUOTE=forged_pistons;1395049]I have a KTM RC 390 (2015).
      ABS Module is a combination of Hydraulic and Electronics system, due to water ingress into the coupler in which contact between pins causes short circuit which damage the control unit. This is the common problem for control units. But before going to conclusion please do few things
      1. Check fault msg through diagnostic system, if it is showing faulty ABS Module then
      2.Check ABS Module pins visually to see the the rust formation due to water between the multiple pins and share the photographs

        if the ABS Control Unit is damaged in anyway, can i repair it? I have heard people who repair ECU units, can they do it, is it doable?

          Hi,

          Yes there are technicians available to repair the ABS Modules. But my suggestion is to diagnose and replace it with new one, coz brake plays a major safety role of the motorcycle. Also the repairer wont warrant for his workmanship on this.
