  • My Suzuki Max 100R

    Dear Friends,

I have bought a second-hand Suzuki Max 100R which is 2000 model. Have done enough work on engine such as reboring, servicing etc. Bike's present look is convincing. However what makes me feel depressed is the mileage as it never exceeds 25km per liter. I have seen the manual of Suzuki Max 100 where its mileage mentioned as 55 km/l average within city.
I don't consider age as performance derating factor as my passion plus bike which is owned by myself for past 13 years returns constant mileage of 65 km/l till date. Can someone suggest me ways to improve the mileage of Suzuki to at least 45-50 as 25kms is terrible considering the present price of petrol.
Based on performance I need to clear other documents such as insurance and green tax since if performance itself is not satisfactory then I need to rethink about spending on papers. Further the bike takes time to reach speed of 50km. I see people saying the top speed is 85kms. Even I wish my bike to reach such speed even though I don't ride at those speed levels.

Please suggest on both performance and speed of MAX 100R.If anybody knows best mechanic in Chennai who can work on performance factor, please suggest.

If you recently rebored the engine, ride gently for 1000 km before assessing. Generally the air fuel mixture is kept rich during run in period. Get it tuned once again after the run in. However, the mileage drops slightly with each rebore.

Oh man, I just looked up your bike and its 7.8bhp made me remember my suzuki Zeus 125 which I currently have. Acceleration to 50kmph shouldn't take very long but be considerate for the bikes age and the number of times its been rebuilt. For performance as Shakti above me said, you need to get your air screw on the carb adjusted properly. Plus give it some time and kms before testing performance. What engine/ gearbox oil are you using currently?
