  • KTM-OIL SWITCH Discussion

    Hello xBhp community.

I have a KTM Duke 125 2019 BS4 12000+ KMS. I recently got a problem solved in my bike which is magnet coil basically, when they replaced it they also topped up the oil with Bajaj 10000 oil. I cannot Run my bike on this all cocktail so I decided to change it completely. I want to switch my engine oil from MOTUL 7100 20W50 [company recommended] to something else.

I DON'T WANT to go for LIQUI MOLY.

I contacted CASTROL and asked for the recommendation for my bike they replied by saying that if your bike is out of warranty then go for POWER1 Cruise 15w50

Now my confusion here is, since KTM suggests only go for 20w50 fully synthetic oil, but on the other hand they use 20w50 from Bajaj 10000 lineup.

Please share your views. Should I stick to Motul?

Should I go for Castrol? After all it would be better than Bajaj 10000

And your opinion about this oil cocktail.

Any oil of the right grade will be better than Bajaj Oil xD

Yes you can safely use 15w50 grade oil in your bike without any problem, and don't worry about warranty, you don't have to tell the KTM mechanic that you poured oil from outside service center.
Yes I wouldn't suggest liqui moly as they fade after 1000kms and Castrol's fully synthetic is the only castrol anyone should buy it does great in bumper to bumper traffic, rest all of their product line is crapstrol. You could stick to Motul 7100 or if you're willing to spend some more, try Amsoil FS 15w50. 300v is enthusiast oil and not really beneficial for city usage. Try Shell Ultra Advance 15w50 its FS its great too. avoid Shell AX7
      Cheers

Are you a DIY kind of guy or do you prefer the expertise of the service center guys?
