Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Helmet, knee guards, riding gloves and riding pants

      Hi SUGU,

I am myself looking fro the knee guard or the pants option, however I can suggest with few items
      1) Gloves
      - For short rides, the options you gave is fine. I personally use Rynox Tornado pro 3 gloves for my city, and long rides at the moment
      - I use a size small, and rynox gloves fit me the best
      - If you have a size bigger than small, then for long rides I will suggest 2 full gauntlet options : Viaterra Grid (try them first) , Rynox is coming up with a full gauntlet within a month (rumour mill)
      2) Knee guards / riding pants I am myself looking at suggestions
      - Currently shortlisted Rynox Stealth Evo pants - I have asked query to XBHP members for their suggestions on Summer / hot weather/ sunny day review

      3) Helmet - I searched the market for many options and I boiled down to three options ( 2 above 25K, 1 below 10k)
      - Since you are saying your budget is within 10k, then I can suggest : NHK helmet ( the Rs. 5500 one) , with respect to the fit, it is racing speced fit, so its very snug fit. I bought it a month back and have used it for touring. I needed a helmet urgently so i bought it, happy with it till now. The other NHK ones below Rs 5500 were normal cusioned, but you can try them if you like. I bought mine from Moto Armour , Whitefield, Bangalore
      - The other 2 options I have/had are (above 25K) : Scorpion Exo 1400 (legione) , Caberg Drift Evo
      - But there is a chance i may get an ARAI helmet from Japan, so I have held up on the other two options at the moment.

Hi thankyou so much for your info.
Riding pants you can have a cool at Solace Cool pro v2 as its L2 and way better in protection than Rynox stealth at the same cost. Try out at solace store in banglore.
How about HJC ???? am looking for either ECE+DOT or DOT+SNELL so didnt htink abt NHK or SOL.

Re: Helmet, knee guards, riding gloves and riding pants

          Hi Sugu,

I will try out the Solace ones you mentioned.

I have only heard HJCs are good and Value for money and initially I wanted to pick one up, but there is very limited stock everywhere. I have visited almost every well known store in Bangalore. There are limited HJCs available. There is no idea regarding imports. You can try out your luck.

I can recommend one more helmet. I was personally about to pick that up. The 'FLY RACING Sentinel'. its around 15K. DOT + SNELL. with inner sun visor and Double D ring. You can find two colour options at Highlander Koramangala. Solid Black and another White variant. The only reason I didn't end up picking one was because it was poly carbonate body I got more inclined to Scorpion as it was carbon fiber although double the price. I may just pick up the Scorpion later but I do now know about spares and all.

So basically, the problem that happened for me was that I was not able to make a decision on the helmets and finally I had to make one because I had a trip planned. So i picked up the NHK.

So finally my recommendation overall would be ,
          1. Have two helmets. A good and cheap one and an excellent one (which may be expensive)
          2. How do you define expensive, if you ask ? . Ask yourself how much you can shell out for your head. Everyone has a different margin and accordingly make your choice
          3. For Touring - Go for Double D ring, but be ready for hassle of operating the locking mechanism with gloves. What a pain.
          4. A helmet looses its property after one good accident or fall.
5 According to my search over the last 1-2 months, and my head shape. All the below I have tried in store. Helmets according to price point

          POLYCARBONATE
          a. around 5K - NHK (the rs 5500 one) (I picked this on an urgent basis)
          b. around 10K - Bell Qualifier
          c. around 15K - Fly racing SENTINEL
          FIBER SHELL
          d. around 20K - Bell ( i dont remember the model, and this is the only one I am yet to try)
          e. around 25K - Caberg Drift ( this is the non carbon fiber model) . Its ok, but by the time i reach this price point I am inclined towards Scorpions
          f. around 32K - Scorpion EXO 1400 - Fiber glass - light weight
          CARBON FIBER
          g. aroung 36K - Scorpion exo 1400 CARBON

That is the maximum I can afford for my head. The plan is to get hands on an Arai Helmet if any over seas trip is planned. Also I am not a huge fan of MT helmets. I feel they are flimsy. Just my personal opinion.

          Hope this helps.

          Regards,
          Phoenix

            Hi,

Good morning. Please do give your feedback about the solace cool pro pants v2 once you try it out. Pls ping with details like How is the Fit, comfort, weight you feel when wear it and features compared to the Rynox Stealth evo 3. Because am gona one of these so your inputs will be off great help.
Thankyou for the detailed info on the helmet stuff and even i was looking at fly racing models but was confused about quality . You gave a grt insight !
I love the double d rings anyday over the quick slap mechanism due to the safety concern. I dont know why MT has started to give the slap mechanism instead of doube d ring even in the expensive model of Balde-2
Will try out helmets you mentioned and let me see.

Re: Helmet, knee guards, riding gloves and riding pants

              Hey Sugu,

I tried out the Solace Cool pro Pants and also the Solace Furious jacket.

I felt it was better than the Stealth evo in comfort, protection and fit. I was almost about to pick up the Solace Furious jacket as well. Almost reached payment. Then I thought to check few other reviews of this jacket, before the purchase.

Pros of Furious Jacket over Stealth Evo
              - SAS-TECH protection (Level 2 for S,E,B) and Level 1 for C
              - There is an updated all black version with tints of green. I personally like the look better than Stealth Evo, but that depends on person to person
I think its great , but need someone's opinion who has used the jacket

Pros of Cool Pro Pants over other pants
              - The MESH
              - The seat grip
              - the pockets
              - the fit

The cool pro pants were near perfect . But nothing in this world is perfect. Somehow the waist was tight for me, which was really surprising. Generally it isn't for other brands. But the Fit and comfort. It was really good. There is good chance I may pick it up over the stealth Evo. I will recheck the Stealth Evo one more time.

              Regards,
              Phoenix

Answering your query on the Helmet section, i would recommend MT Rapide helmet that costs 10,750 rupees.
It has a fiber shell and comes at 1300 grams only which makes it good for touring. I had checked it out and found that it was super light weight compared to my old LS2 Supra.

Oh, and it accommodates spectacles very well.

I have been using the Furious jacket for more than a year now and can vouch for the fit and finish(the stitches and zippers are far better than competition). And the ventilation is very good too - although I have not done any long tours yet but have not felt suffocated in Kolkata weather. Worth every penny and probably the best in class.
I like the Furious so much that I will be getting a Cool Pro next month.
Having seen some other brands and products, I have my confidence on Solace and can recommend both Jackets and Pants from Solace.

                      Regarding the MT Rapide Helmet:
                      1. They do have speaker pockets, but haven't fixed any speakers in them.
                      2. Not sure about the wind noise.

Re: Helmet, knee guards, riding gloves and riding pants

Rynox air GT is nice but I suggest you invest 2k more and go for Rynox Storm evo.
Rynox Air GT is a really good jacket but it resricts your movement I dont know why. I dont really the design of it. It's not one of the most comfortable riding jackets available out there.
Check this article for best Riding Jackets we have available in 2020. It will give you more suggestions.

About knee guards, Rynox Bionic are really nice (again, a very competitive price as most Rynox products).

About helmets, I suggest you go for LS2 Stream Evo, it is one of the best helmets in India. If not and you want to go for one of the brands mentioned, go for MT. But I really suggest you try LS2. They are really good.

If you are buying knee guards, no need to go for riding pants. Riding pants moreover restrict your movement so don't bother buying one lol.

Hope I answered all your questions...
