  • Bike stopped during idling in morning only

    Hi Folks,
I have recently bought a new bike which is Avenger 160 street BS6 but now I am observing one issue according to me. Early morning when I am starting the bike just idling no throttle bike gives me uneven idling then it stopped. As per service center it is because of winter.
Once I ride few km then it is not happening. This is FI bike if anyone knows about this please let me know.

FI system usually start at higher rpm(around 2000rpm) than after worm up it settled down to 1200 to 1300 rpm roughly, this applies to both bikes and cars with petrol engine slightly different rpms. The higher rpm at the start is due to auto-choke initiated by ECU, Due to cold conditions it might happen that bike start and stop after few sec. But once it restarted and rpms settled down after few minutes, then bike is ready to function in perfect condition.
Usually bikers worm up their bikes for 3 to 5min depending upon whether conditions.

I bought the Karizma zmr more than 10 years ago, it had Programmable FI, closed loop one. I never ever had to press the starter more than once irrespective of the weather. That's the beauty of FI, it detects temperature, oxygen etc and pumps air-fuel mixture accordingly. To counter a cold engine, FI keeps idle at around 2000 rpm's until it warms up.

So there's definitely something wrong with your bike's fueling system. And it's a brand new one, it shouldn't behave like that. You should have a strong argument with the SVC manager and if they refuse to accept that it's a valid problem, send a complaint to all the Bajaj officials in HQ.

You can't compare western coast weather to harsh North India weather.

I think that's what FI is meant to do. It supposed to take care of the fueling on is own. I don't think it matters if the weather is either cold or warm. An FI system takes into account all of the conditions and provides adequate fuel to the engine to function properly.
