  • Bajaj engine oil

    Hello Everyone,
I hope this message finds you in good health.
My name is Anup Nair and I am from pune. This may look like a big long essay but I would request you to read it once.

The reason I am writing this message is to raise a concern that I believe we all have been facing from Bajaj. Recently i went to the showroom
to get the first service done. I had asked the mechanic to change the engine oil to motul to which he responded that my warranty will be voided
if i use any other engine oil apart from the one provided by Bajaj. When i asked for the reason he said it is because of cost cutting. When i asked him
that it's the consumers choice whether he/she is interested to put that extra money to get better performance for which he did not had an answer and
then he said that we do not recommend any other engine oil and if you want more information, you can contact Siddharth (ASM Bajaj). I spoke to Siddharth
and tried explaining the reason why I wanted to change the engine oil. As we all know that the current engine oil provided by Bajaj is not upto the mark and there are vibration issues with the bike but
riders who had upgraded their engine oil to Motul or Liquimolly observed a significant reduction in vibration and even the bike is
performing much better compared to earlier. The dominar engine is borrowed from KTM and even KTM uses a motul oil for their bikes so why don't dominar
users get that option. Bajaj says that they recommend Bajaj DTSI 10W50 oil but frankly speaking this is not a recommendation instead bajaj is forcing their
consumers to buy the product only because they have a tie up with HP or Total which is a pure marketing Gimmick. On top of that they claim that the engine oil
needs to be changed only at 10,000 Kms which is something that I don't trust.

I need help from all of you. I can raise this concern all by myself but they won't pay much heed since I am raising this concern all alone but
if we all stand together, united then we may be able to bring a difference.

I will be sending an email to Bajaj copying all of you. I would request each one of you to share your concerns about Bajaj DTSI 10W50 engine oil
and would also request you to share your experience if you have upgraded the engine oil. Interested riders can share their email address in our whatsapp group.
Will be sending the email on Sunday Evening, so i would request all of you to share your email address before that.

Thankyou for your time... wishing you a happy and a safe ride and good luck with conquering the roads.

Hey Anup, I just came across this thread. In the Bangalore Domi group, it's a very mixed feedback on the Bajaj oil. I do know few who swear by Motul, while some of the more experienced folks are very much happy with the stock oil. Some of them have even tried another brand but have come back to stock saying it's the best. So it's really a personal choice for the owner, though I would 'assume' that the manufacturer has done enough testing on the bike and therefore have 'recommendations' on what the bike should have to keep it running well. Many just wait for the 2yr warranty to get over and then switch to their oil of choice. It really is a way the manufacturer earn more from the bike after sales..
Wind in my hair.... and I'm semi bald...

For years users have complained about the oil and still Bajaj doesnt budge. Bajaj oil doesnt last for more than 1000km in my Pulsar 150 Neon whereas Motul 3000 15w50 which is 120 rs cheaper than Bajaj oil and works wonderfully for 1700kms atleast. Reason why some say Bajaj oil is better in dominar since its viscosity index is lower than Motul, so engine revs little more freely hence the claim. But its very damaging in the long run and uneconomical. Just pay the mechanic 50 rs and he'll put Motul without any hiccup. I know this is wrong but cant do anything.
