  • Unicorn help!!!

    Hi,

I have a 2005 Unicorn. I have serviced it regularly however I am not satisfied with the ride quality I am getting out of it.

Main problems I am facing are:
    1) There is a constant noise coming from rear cowl as if some small part has come loose and is trapped somewhere and is rattling about while driving.
    2) The brake pedal squeaks if I am going over a rough road
    3) The shock absorbers have become really ineffective and this cause a lot of discomfort to my back even on relatively short drives.

    Regarding #1,
I think there was a vibration problem with the front and rear cowls of the earlier batches of the Unicorn. My front cowl broke within 6 months of using it and had gotten gotten both cowls replaced in warranty and free of cost from the service center.

Recently, for around 6 months or so I am facing the noise/rattling problem in rear cowl which I mentioned above. During servicing I informed the service center ppl to look into it. The noise stopped for a few days however it has resurfaced again. The service center guys are saying there is no permanent solution for this. Has anyone faced similar issues? Any idea what this might be.

    Regarding #2,
this might not be that big an issue, should get resolved while servicing.

    Regarding #3,
I had mentioned about the shock absorbers during the last servicing. I think they just changes the setting of the rear shock absorber to soft.

Do shock absorbers become hard after some time? (4 yrs in my case)
Do I need to replace them or will just changing the oil inside the shock abs suffice? Does the rear shock ab on the Unicorn have oil in it?

BTW, I have gotten all my servicings done from authorized Honda service centers. Not really impressed with them though.
I am from Pune. Does anyone know any good service centers for the unicorn. How is Castrol Bike zone?

I know long post, but I really am getting bugged with my Bike. Cant remember the last time I enjoyed riding my Unicorn!!!
    Please help!!!!

        Thanks, I'll try there.
But do you have any idea about about bikezone in terms of whether they can take care of honda specific body part problems. Do they keep original body parts if anything needs replacing, or will I have to run over to the authorised workshop for that?

bro,i also own a 2005 uni withself start..

abt vibration from rear cowl, there is a new bracket where both the rear side cowls meet...get it and see if it is solved

yes,u can change the seals and the oil from the front shocks as the bike already 4 years...as for the back, there is no oil,if u feel too much bumps, try the soft and the hard and set it as u wish as it can be done even by u in ur house...

and abt the rear brake, thats no issue atall...some washing and greasing would do the trick...

and trust me the bike zone guys are not so good with the uni's and stick to the honda guys...try to befrnd some mech at the svr center and get ur job done and give the guy some tips..that's wat i do...
RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!
