The two main screws for idle adjustment are the idle screw and the pilot screw. Check out your manual for pics. There must be a detailed explanation about idle setting with pics. The pilot screw usually needs 3 full turns anti-clockwise for decent idling. Based on the pilot screw you need to adjust the idle acrew. If you don't find the stuff in your manual, revert back and I'l type in the procedure here for you. A bit lazy now.

Running lean is NOT GOOD on any motorcycle/car, more so on CI bullets. Running lean means a lot more parts of air wrt fuel for the engine. Air cooled engines are cooled by atmospheric air and by the fuel mixture. Hence, a lean mixture causes overheating leading to a partial/catastrophic engine seizure in the worst case. The only advantage of running lean is that your mileage will go up, but of course at the expense of your engine life. Basically, you'll pay a heavier price than fuel savings if you run too lean for too long.
