  • Chain Issue

    Hi All,
My R15 has done around 17K+ so far.. Today I took her to SS for tightening the chain... The guy who checked my told dat It's time to change the chain n sprocket.. He said the chain is tight at some point and very loose at some other point...
Can anyone throw some light on this???? What all are the indication for a chain change? Also is 17K too early for a replacing it?

    U'r suggestions highly appreciated.. Thanks

    Joe

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

changing change is not depending on only KM covered by any rider it is also depending on riding style. I have changed chain and spk kit three times in a span of 2 months. My customer uses his moto for (Illegal) street racing. So i hope u got the answer.
Besides somewhere tight somewhere loose means the spk become EGG so that's true change the chain..... n don't forget to cahnge whole kit not only rear spk or only chain or so. change front n rear spk with new chain...

Just to clear some more confusion. Does sudden acceleration from start cause the sprocket get EGG shaped?

Not from the start but taking sudden acceleration, rough riding, taking sudden pickup.
If non of all the manufacturing problem. But generally 99.99% due to above reason.

chinmay is correct.i changed my p 180 ug 2 s chain and spk around 15000kms.as i was in sikkim and its hills all the way so the strain is pretty high.if u use your bikes full power and ride in "RACE MODE" most of the time then its a good time to change it.change whole set front rear spk+ chain.as chains in r 15 are open type and sealed roller type, its a good practice to clean and lubricate with Gear oil grade 90 ep.i know ,some say open types are maintenance free but a little oil will help the chain system as we still live in india where DUST is very common.
