  • Some help Needed : Pulsar 180 Classic

I have just restored my cousin's bike and would be going in for some mods soon. Need you assistance on the following queries:

    1) I will be changing the analogue speedo to a digital one, I want to know if the XCD's speedo will fit , if not is it possible to change the colour of the back-light LED of the pulsars speedo?

    2) Ive heard of people changing the stock coil to that of Avenger 180's, I want to know whether the Avenger 200's is the same and if no can the Av 200's coil be fitted...Will there be any difference?

    3) Will be converting the Pulsar 180's engine to a Dts-i engine, i wanna know what all parts will have to be changed and whether the UG4's parts could be used for the same. Is changing the chassis necessary for the mod? Some help with the estimates would be appreciated.

    4) I noticed the new 220 Dts-i comes with a steel braided front brake hose and i know its advantages. Can this be used on the P180's brake system. ( the current brake hose has come for a change)

    5) Are HID's worth the cost?, will it perfrom well in the stock wolf eye headlamp? , would a 55/60 bulb be bright enough coupled with the Av 180s Coil...the current 35/35 W bulbs are useless IMO.

Any help with the above queries will be highly appreciated....Thanx

First off: Congratulations on completing the restoration.
Keep the bike stock .Classic looks killer.

The avenger coil has different kind of connectors. You will have to find the right wires and cut and join. you can however get it converted to DC and install 35watt HID. Baap illumination.

Keep the old circular headlight. Looks simply superb.XCD's speedo? Bad idea IMO.

Classic 180 is a very good bike, i regret selling mine. Out of the list i think the braided hose idea is good. Head lights also can be worked on, use a yezdi assy with autopal 102 lens and bulb option left to u.
Other than that my suggestion would be a taller rear shock for a good front end grip.
Other than that every thing works fine stock.

theoretically speaking u can change the old 180 into a Dtsi .but involves a lot of cost .
all the above modification can take a hell lot of money from u r pocket.
the best option i am gona tell u is that sell u r bike .get a Used p180.But a more recent model......

                  1) yes you can shift from analog to digital speedo you will need sensors and all other stuffs that come with digital speedo pulsar
2)pls stay with stock that is the best option ican say..
                  4) it will improve brake feel marginally, will prevent rust.
best option is to go for UG3 pulsar by selling current one, mods seemed
to be heavy on pocket and you will not get the confident feel in those mods. a good 180 UG3 2007 should cost 35,000 to 40,000rs.

                    Latest Update:
I canned the plan of converting the bike to dtsi because 1> cost involved 2>reliability.The engine has been completely rebuilt by my mech...a new carb from the P200 has gone in with new 17in mags and tyres....apart from the normal service spares replacements.Ive installed the Avi 180's coil and i must say the output has increased...will be getting the phantom headlamp and a 55/60 philips diamond vision headlamp bulb which i have spare from my car. The digital speedo thing will be done later due to shortage of funds. The steel braided hose is still not available...will get that once they are available.
