Choke is always stuck

  • Choke is always stuck

I'm having a Pulsar 150 v2. Nowadays, I never uses the choke since the bike usually starts easily.

The problem is that my choke always get stuck & it's unusable. My mechanic is saying that it's getting stuck because I'm not using it.

But I came across other bikes and their owners are not using the choke but their choke never gets stuck. What's reason ?

    Please help...

You need to get the choke cable changes and the choke lever cleaned to make it free from jams

This is the problem with the classics, V1's & V2. The choke cable get stuck or jammed when not used, i had the same problem too, but now bajaj has changed the choke in the V3 and the V4. The new ones have the choke lever on the carb itself, works troublefree and can be retrofitted to the older generation Pulsars. The lever costs 150 bux and it is called the (choke plunger)....the guys at the Bajaj service centre or a good competent mech would be able to do the installation. No Mods are required for fiitting so go for it.

Plunger body I used to fit from Royal Enfield CV carbs. I did this long time back n it works absolutly perfect. Coz Pulsar used to come with wire for choke and Royal Enfield TB used to come and infact still comes with pluger body, n both has CV system. So Go for that.
Stucking problem is bike to bike issue. Besides if u don't need choke. Then just for my curiosity I want to know ur Mileage. Coz I m having small doubt about it..

he maybe running richer and the idling also must be high. And why bullet's plunger when our very own UG3 pulsars have one?

3-4 years back Bajaj was having cable system for choke (DTSI-P-150cc) rather than plunger n the carb was same for TB n Pulsar so I did this change long time back, later on Bajaj changed the system.

U may be right Pavan, He may be running rish or his idling may be high. But what if his cable is stuck where it is zero so may be his choke is not active from inner side n second thing what if his idling is also perfect near to 1-1.2K? If both the things are perfect and the bike is getting started without shoke, then just for my curiosity I want to know the mileage....

My bike is not running rich. I'm getting a FE of 60 KMPL. And, I don't use the choke !

I've asked this because the choke always get stuck & the service center always changes it without my permission during the routine service.

ripper : Thanks for your very valuable advice. Bajaj bikes were having the choke on carbs(4S Champion). I really don't know why they've changed it ?
