    Guys,
    just a thought.. is it possible to fix the switch cluster units[L&R] from the Bajaj Pulsar[with backlight] on an RD? what rewiring should be done to keep the back lights?

    I was thinking of replacing my old RX switch cluster with a new YBX cluster unit.If this is possible, then , i can take off my RD cluster[YBX] and replace it with nice light effects and place it on my RX. The major issues are these..

    1. pulsar has a self-canceling type indicator switch. i hate that. it hardly works.. atleast in my own P180 UG3.. can i make it work like a normal push type [like YBX] one?
    2. pulsar has got the headlight switch[ high & low beams] in the Right cluster.. where RD/RX has it on the Left side. so, some re-wiring needed + wiring for the back-lights
    3. Pulsar has a self-start button on the R side, which i dont need at all

    Any idea if other bajaj bikes like XCD, Disco has got clusters with back-lights? which doesnt have the self-canceling indicators & self-start and having the headlight, indicator, horn altogether in the left-side cluster like the YBX unit?

      (1) On any Pulsar, if you just want to conk off the "Self Cancel" system, it's easy (remove the magnet), though changing it to another switch gear is difficult. Pulsar has something known as BCU, which controls all this stuff. BTW it works flawlessly on my P180 UG3.

      (2) I doubt any other bike has "Backlit" switches. And putting them on any other bike won't be easy as well. All those backilts are controlled by BCU, and in case you do'nt want a BCU, it's quiet difficult to wire the LED's seperately. All the switches in Pulsars are non-contact type, different from other bikes.

      I would say, If at all you want to move to Pulsar switch gear, change to (1) Pulsar Wiring, (2) Pulsar Switch and (3) BCU. Self Cancelling will not work as it is until further mods are done.

        mods, please move this thread to " thumpers, 2 strokers.." .. as its a complex wiring/electrical mod with RD350. I need expert opinion from 2 strokers

        @ rahul.. thanks man.. never knew this BCU issue. i believe its the body control unit.

          Yes, it's the body control unit. And basically all the switches on UG3, actually just opens or closes the circuit for BCU, and then BCU does the switching work, and thus it's quiet complex. BCU going kaput on Pulsars are not a uncommon thing as well.
