  • 2006 P150 Muffler cut

    Hello xbhp,

Thanks to an '09 model City that jumped the red signal at junction, my exhaust pipe's cut. At the time of the incident, it was a plain welding misalignment - at least, that's what it looked like to me. I escaped unhurt as the exhaust pipe took all the impact and I slightly fell on my left side. Seeing the speechless poor guy's dismay, I dint argue much cos his bumper had a decent scrape that made me happy (he's gonna have to shell abt 5k to get that back to stock look) and sad (i adore that car!) at the same time.

Now, here's the problem. It's been about 2 weeks since that happened, and my muffler gave up today FINALLY throwing out the cap and all that cloth-like material inside while riding somewhere in the outer ring road area. The bike's exhaust note is horrrrrible and disturbing now, and very unethical according to me - being a respectful rider and xbhpian for close to 5 years now.

What's your take on this? Is it possible to get this fixed, cos I'm sure the service center guys would abide by there motto - 'No repair, Only replace!'. I quite don't appreciate this idea as it would set me off by close to 3800/- for the entire exhaust pipe(new) plus, I was planning and saving up to upgrade to Classic Retro style biking on a Thumper.

Is a P200's exhaust pipe a direct fix for the old model, and is it recommended?

    Help me guys.

that cloth like stuff is glass wool..its used to absorb sound so as to give a distinct exhaust note,i won't say good or bad coz some people get it done on purpose..well u can get it repaired by welding but the sound can't be restored to the stock..if u plan on changing the exhaust, go for a free flow n some mods too..u can get a gud free flow at much lesser cost and get gud sound too if the outlet is around 1/4-1/2 inch greater than the stock and wud give u the optimal increase in performance..

u can do whatever repair or modifications u wanna do...but only if ..u dont go for long rides at high speeds very often.....coz mods definetily reduce the reliability of bike....

Thanks guys. Answers my post definitely. I'll pitch in for a stock exhaust and bid adieu to the red baby.

          Cheers.

I don't think that a Pulsar's muffler will cost about Rs.3800. It's about Rs.1800(if my memory is correct).

Better replace it rather than trying to repair.
