There is only low-end torque in a unicorn engine. Working on it for more low-end is a bad idea. However if you insist, there are ways to do, but you need to rework on the engine.
The intake and exhaust mods will still not help you much. Everything has to complement each other and its all starts right from the cylinder head, cam, valves etc.

      ^^ That's master statement !!

Unicorn has very good low-end torque compared to all bikes in 150cc category it develops max. torque at just 5500, while most other 150cc develop at 6000+ rpm.....and the king of all low end torque still belongs to HH bike called Achiever which develops max. torque at 5000 rpm, hardly no one knows this bike, it was also the most fuel efficient 150cc with the same mill of Unicorn !!!

Thats true. This is the best way to increase the low end torque. Stage 1 mod should be a K&N and stage 2 a mildly shorter cam may be along with reworked intake port and stage 3 grounded piston heads and cylinder heads to increase tumble or squish and finally tuned exhaust and intake lengths.

Otherwise rebore it put in a bigger piston you will have better low end as well as high end simply because its burning more fuel.

For avenger knocking you can try higher octane petrol. I am facing the same problem with P220, try shell super. I guess, its also an issue where both the plugs are enabled when the throttle is opened beyond a point leading to faster combustion.

          Nope.
A freeflow filter will begin to make the engine more peaky coz of the higher air flow irrespective of the length. I dont know what u mean by a shorter cam, maybe u mean lower lift? Dont consider a lower cam to always offer better LET.
By saying reworked cylinder head, it could mean many things. Things that i cant explain here. There are various ways of improving LET and definetely shoving a larger piston is not going to make the engine more efficient unless you know what you are doing.
The key of an engine with more LET is a restricted intake/exhaust, rpm and fuelling. Which means, the cylinder head will need a lot of work, atleast considering the unicorn's head layout.

Hmmm I could be wrong on this, but wont a simple sprocket work help the low end? If low end is all that's needed.

That's more like it! I won't waste any more cash on mods until I have a definite answer to it. I'll try the higher octane fuel - "Shell Super" till then to see if the knocking is reduced or something. Even on lesser slopes I have to downshift to almost third and redline it if I am not entering the slope fast enough.

              Thanks for the suggestions!

Re: Ways of increasing Low end torque

Will fixing a butterfly slide (like a carb) to the exhaust help ?... I hv read restricting the exhaust helps make better low end while a free flow make better high end. Is that true ?
