  • Low pickup after Service (Apache RTR)

Hey guys, am a in a bit problem and a confusion related to my apace RTR, my bike has done around 5000 Km, had its servicing done around 800 Km back, Since after service, am experiencing a real low pick up, and at speeds like 70+ the bike seems to cry, also the top speed has decreased to like 112-115 (on same speedo, i made around 130+). Though the mileage has improved, am getting around 48-50 mileage (though i dont care for it that much) in city with average riding speed of 60 Kmph

I did took my bike to service station, here's what my conversation was with the guy

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me: Sir, am experiencing a low pickup in my Bike, also there are helll lot of vibrations

Guy: (checks the max. speed reading, he founds it to be 134) How much is this bike meant to speed at max.?

Me: COmpany claimed it to be 118

Guy: You took it to 134, taking it 16 figures more than claimed this way u will ruin ur bike's engine in around a month

Me: Why will company give me enough throttle to ruin up engine?? more to tht, will speedo show real 134?? at 134 i bet i was at around 115-118

(After an argument the guy takes my bike for a Ride)

Guy: Pickup's perfect, i have tested it with every angle, there's no prob with bike

Me: I dont know, am experiencing it low, just fix that

Guy: There's nothing to fix (and he leaves without listening)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

then while brosing on net, i found this article related to carburettor tuning, and i found the same symptoms (of running lean on fuel, coz my bike's Tacho does comes down real slow from up to down)

Now, am in confusion, That should i look forward for that guide and try it out, or i should wait for my next service? its still around 1000+ Km left for service, thats gonna be like a month more..

@Freakout4321 : U have found the answer by yourself......

Yes the Carb tuning is the bugger here....I would suggest you to ride ur bike for another few days or few KM's to check whether any change is visible.....in your throttle response.....

If not then the Carb needs to be tuned for Better pickup and quick throttle response....I believe it should be running in Lean Mixture....

        Thnx Thunder,

Since am experiencing this problem over 3 weeks now, i decided to tune it now, I tuned the carburettor, and yeah, the pick up ReallY improved

though i found this strange thing, strange oil deposit on my bike's left part of engine

Took my bike to service center today, they applied some adhesive type substance, also i asked them to re-tune that fuel screw and idle screw, pickup aint perfect yet, but better than before...

Never accept such makeshift repairs. If its leaking, find out exactly from where... and replace seal/gasket. And try geting the carb tuned using a digital tacho.

K.. will search for a good mechanic here, and will get the work done..

Even i wasnt happy with that adhesive thing, i asked if the gasket was changed or not, they just ignored me on that.. though that rubber disc thing on engine was changed... its visible in pics..
