But to make the 1st gear turns in opposite dir u need to put on some extra gear wheel,,But i dont think there wil be any place for it inside,,

still I'm not sure,, U just try it and inform us all

possible, with an external drive. Its diffucult to add a gear internally.
However the purpose will not meet the efforts put!

i am ready for mod but there should be someone who can do mods for me, as i am not a mechanic, and finding a right mechanic to do the job is like searching a pin from a garden of grass.
if i prefer my local mechanic for mods, i am sure that then even bhangar wala will think before purchasing it.

this days bikes are getting heavier and so...
so pushing them back by manpower (it is diffucult not alot) but sometimes we may loose balance and bike bhammmm on ground, for superbikes i want to say that they are made for countries where you will find wide roads, no potholes,hardly they have to reverse their bike uphill, here different situation it is india.

Unlike some 2-strokes, a 4-stroke engine cant run in an opposite direction.
the shaolin was notorious of running reverse due to offset in ignition timing,

one more thing can we change shift pattern from 1down 4up to 1up and 4down
i heard somewhere that old yezdi came with a reverse gear

ok, Guys, first of all lets put a stop on this is-it-worth-it thing. Its a query and honestly speaking...I too am interested in knowing if it is possible. Most of the times I find it difficult to reverse my Zma...Loaded or unloaded.... I stand only 5 feet six inches..

@ the thread starter: I am no engineer, but I would still not like the 1st gear to work as the reversing gear. rteason, the 1st gear has a lot of Ummph and i would not like to waste it for a gear that is not very frequently used. also, an imprper launch may lead to fall, so a 3rd gear type of power is somehow more apt.

also, rather then fiddeling with the gear box, if we can somehow fiddle wirth the drive chain sproket.....as in if we have a way to rotate the chain in clockwise and anti clockwise...that would be more easier...(comparitively speaking) I remeber that the initaill days of Three wheelers saw the same set up where they simply used a lever and they had four reverse gears too...if u know what I mean!!

It happens with 2-strokes. If the piston did not cross the TDC then when the ignition takes place the engine will start backwards. May be the timing is not accurate

what happens if by mistake you put the reverse gear( 1st gear) while driving

, I feel that their should be a separate clutch or something if you want to put a reverse gear.

I don't know much about auto riksha other then that they have gears like bajaj scooter. plus whatever you can see from outside

Edit: just checked the specification of BAJAJ Autoriksha out of curiosity, it has only 173cc engine

, I thought that it was 300cc.
