    hey guys, my uncle is keen on starting a bike showroom in chennai especially yamaha. He is from computers background. so, he wants to know what it requires to start a dealership. like cost? infrastructure? dealership cost? initial stock? what margin? etc.. please help guys with whatever information you have

      @vinoth86.. there are already yamaha dealers in chennai so i guess the company will not allot another dealership... i would suggest you first find out if the company is ready to give you a dealership then plan everything else.

        Yamaha will tell you all these things. As they want some standard to be maintain at all of their showrooms.

          Its not as easy to start a dealership, First the company comes up with a vacancy for the dealership they tell the required area and then you have to give the interview. If you get selected in the interview they will ask for the money required which they tell in the interview. Around Rs 25 lakhs is required for service setup and furniture. Almost a Crore is required as working capital and for the Spare Parts. All this does not include the cost of showroom area and real estate and you will be the prefered person if you have own Land and Building.
          I know all this because i had applied for Bajaj dealership in my Town but i was not selected in the Interview itself.
          Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.
