  • Query on Electrical connections and relays.

    Guys,

Now suppose i connect the headlight of a pulsar (running on AC in stock) directly to the battery it works right.. ?
Now what if i make this a permanent mod.

As in , yes , i know the battery will eventually run out.

    Now ,
1> if i use the headlight only while the engine is running (after connecting it directly to the battery) would my battery still drain out ?

2> If the answer to the above query is 'it will drain out' then what is a possible solution ?

Even i wanted to ask the same question. Could the lighting gurus help us out with the above query. FYI i got the avenger coil plate on my bike...works well with the 55/60 watt bulb, will look better on DC.

Of course, you should use the light only after starting the engine! Whether your battery will drain out depends on the wattage of the bulb used. If you use a 35/35W bulb and ride for, say 1 hour during daytime and 1 hour during night time. you will face no problem. On the other hand, if you ride only during night time, that too within city (low rpms), even a 35/35W bulb can potentially drain the battery.

With a 60/55W bulb, you must be doing above approx 4k rpm at all time, to sustain the battery and the bulb. And with a 100/90W bulb your battery stands no chance!

Look around! I have 2 threads on this very issue.
        My answers are in bold.

          My question remains the same.

I mean you have clearly said that after potential night riding for more than an hour or 2 the battery drains out.

I requested if there is a solution to that ?

First, tell me your needs - HID or 60/55W bulb?

Already running on the avenger coil and a 60/55W. Just dont want it to vary with RPM and dont want the battery to die out. Because i do a lot of night riding.

Avy coil should support 60/55 pretty well. As for the low rpm dimming, why don't you convert your tail lamp to LEDs and see? Do one thing, remove your tail lamp and see, if the dimming improves, go for LEDs. Also, have you used the Avy RR unit?

yeah tried removing the tail lamp. Its still dims at low RPMs.
Nope nope not on the avy RR unit. Do i need to ?

Yes, I have heard it from many ppl. I myself do not use the Avy coil, so I am not speaking from my experience. Maybe others can confirm.

Is the AVVY RR unit a direct fit on UG3 or any pulsar for that matter??

How's your custom mound stator doing? I am waiting for your thread.

                        ^^ I have started the thread - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/desi-bik...stem-mods.html

AFAIK, it is a direct fit upto UG3. The neutral connector has to be modified though.

I have already changed the neutral connector. I have avvy coil installed. But as you say the stock pulsar RR unit is a bottleneck. So i asked.BTW i am thinking of building the custom RR unit.

Yes, the stock RR unit seems to be a bottle neck. Else, how would you explain the fact that the same Avy coil can not drive the 60/55W light properly at low rpm in the Pulsar? Either the RR unit needs to be changed or the wires from the RR unit to the headlight needs to be made thicker.

If anyone in your friends circle has the Avy, swap it and see. Else, try with thicker wire.

If you make the custom RR unit, you need to make the stator too!

Hi, Am Sajan from COchin. Have you solved the issue? Even I am working on it as am on HID now and my battery is getting fried everyday. Abhi has given me some tips to solve it but needs time to change. Let u know once its finished. Stock RR feeding the battery a max of 3.5A @4K rpm. So its the bottleneck which I also convinced. Have u got the projectors retrofitted? If so share with us. Where u are located?
