I think you are using O-ring type of chain. You should not simply use the same cleaning/lubing method used by Non O-ring type chains owners. O-ring type has rubber sealant in the chain that keeps the lubes inside so they require much less maintenance. Some products are harmful to these rubber so be careful what you use. There are cleaning agents that are suitable for rubber, not all are. As far as lubing is concern, I use Motul chain lube (spray). I like them as they stick to the chain. BTW, mine is Non O-ring, so I dont have to be very choosy about the cleaning part, I use a spray cleaning product, dont remember the name.

So, the key is, don't overdo it...
Yes. that's correct. Don't over lube.

Well, how much is right and how much is overdoing is something I cannot explain here... I can tell that only while lubing

        thanks guys.
i've decided to use Motul Chain cleaner for cleaning and Castrol SAE 90 Gear oil for lubing.
i hope its a good combination.

I got in late.yes its the verdict. Cleaner+castrol ep 90 good combination.

          Some more info.

Ep 80 gen used for 5 speed gear box of cars is little thinner than ep 90.it helps the overdrive of the car.

Ep 90 is used for 4 speed gearbox.its a good thing to lubricate chains.

Ep 140 is used for rear differencials of rear wheel driven cars and suvs ,and lots thicker.

All these oils are harmless to rubber parts of seald o ring chain as all gear box and diffarencials of car have rubber parts inside them.

I have some questions and i am hopeful that you guys would help me:

can i use burnt engine oil to lubricate the chain of my R15?
will it have any adverse affects?
what is the proper way to oil the chain?

looking for a helpful reply. thanks.
you get chain Spray for Rs. 150.00 which is very good and sticks to chain for long time.
It also have chemical that removes rust and Mud that sticks to Chain.

be careful when you spray it on chain sprocket it will burn your skin...

If its squeaking noise from the chain. Spray will definitely work. For that matters any lube will work. The difference is, spray lube are sticky and stick to the chain, where as gear oil or such tends to fly all over. BTW how long has it been since you last clean/lube your chain. I too has my chain cover removed on my ZMA and you have to clean/lube more often than covered ones. I do it at least once every 2 weeks or approx. 700 kms.

I got it serviced 15 days back, but I guess the service guy cleaned it with used oil!! I'm planning to get a chain spray! Any idea which one is better and cheap?

I use 'Motul Chain Lube (400 ml)' compatible for o-ring, x-ring, z-ring, and of course the conventional chain. These are mentioned clearly in the can. I got mine for Rs. 480.

Which one is better? oi! people are still arguing about which engine oil is best. Its no different when it comes to chain lube . I'm happy with what i'm using.

i've decided to buy the motul chain cleaner and motul chain lube.
previously i decided to use gear oil as lube but i have abandoned that idea since oil doesn't stick to long on the chain (as pointed out by other posters)

                                hi ppl,

i have bought the motul chain clean and wanted to use it on my R15 but one of my friends said that u are lacking the motul lube so i went to Panache Bangalore to ask them but they said that rather than selling it, they would apply it for about 120 buks..i got it applied but he just used the spray..to which he said that nowerdays both the motul lube n chain clean come together in 1 bottle..

is that correct?..my motul chain clean cost about 450 buks...
