Hey guys need some massive help wiTH ZMA gear bos...I can tell my ZMA's gear shift is a pain in THE wrong place at times, some times is as smooth as butter but sometimes I cant even compare an ashok leyland gear box wiTH my zma..despite having motul 300v 10w40.....motul chain spray & chain clean products and not 2 mention proper gear shift & clucthin, I still don feel the differnce.

my bike is exactly a year old done 11868 kms done 5 services still aint good enough ...please suggest in terms of a good mechanic or good service outlet or any help...appreciated in advance thanks

@Priyatam: Easy man. It's easy to misjudge the underlying tone behind a post. Nobody is starting a war here.

You don't comprehend good, do you?

What Ken here meant was that the bike is known for being pretty much bullet proof in terms of reliability, so this issue definitely comes across as a surprise.

As for the thread starter, let someone else ride the bike and see if the problem appears. it could just be your riding pattern for all we know.

Is that a perception? cause if you read the quoted text below, my take on it was that this thread was posted in the wrong section and was moved to Help Section since "ZMA was having a problem"

I'm just afraid of another boring brand war/discussion here, so couldn't control myself and hence the post.

I consider the Zma gear box to be one of the best in the business in our country (barring the new Yams and the GSR).

If you guys see me start a brand war, start a petition against me!

Let us hope you guys will help out the guy who needs the help.

Common guys i don't smell any brand war here.

If i would have written this "So you start the war and someone else takes the beating at the end ?" my intention would have been to have some leg pulling and fun with my senior fellow biker(though MOD).

And this is just a common reaction "Zma having a problem!!! "

So lets help the troubled buddy..!!

                  Cheers

If there are miss shifts and harder gears at times is suspect three things.

                    1) Clutch cable is stiffened or hardened ( need to be replaced)
                    2) Clutch plates gone.
                    2) Clutch bell or pressure plates needs to be checked.

Contact Mr Muniswamy @ Nikhi motors sadashivnagar, a very nic eperson indeed.

Since this is your fifth free service, im guessing your bike is still under the company warranty.
Rather than taking things into your own hands, id suggest committing your Zma's problems onto paper and then handing it over to the works manager at the HH SC of your choice.
Once thats done, you can hold them responsible to fix the issue and then escalate the problem to HHML if the problem remains unsolved.

If you've considered something along these lines, this post oughta spur you into action, If otherwise, please do post as to why you're against utilising your warranty.

For the record, my 4k-6 month old Zma's shifts used to be a tad notchy during the running-in period. Now the shifts are pretty darn smooth.
All said and done, when was the last time you changed the engine oil? Also, since you've mentioned that you're using the full-synth Motul, you might wanna consider reverting to a full-mineral oil such as the HH stuff etc.

You'll find on the Zma ownership thread that full-synth oils and the Zma have issues pertaining to gear-shift feel.

Once you've eliminated the engine oil being the culprit, the ownership thread could be used for getting further advice/suggestions: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...karizma-r.html

                      Cheers !

                          Help me too guys

mine is a 6 month old 7k done karizma, from the day one the gear shift has been a bit on the harder side ,plus there is a weird noise coming from the engine when it is hot and so are the vibrations which have increased over the period of time.I am sick and tired of giving my bike for service and taking it back in a state not better than before plus without the problems being addressed at all .... when i give the bike, they say tappet adjustment for the noise issue and do that when its cold or something if at they do that and the problem is not solved in last 2 services which indirectly has also effected the performance.Dont know whom to speak after service manager.Even once wrote to hero honda and they contacted this service guys and he called up and fixed an appointment.Even after all this the problem and has not gone away and bike feels as if its done a lac kms ....Serious help needed guys
