Help needed for my Dad's Classic SL

    Help needed for my Dad's Classic SL

    Hi all, my dad's 1998 Bajaj Classic SL, which has clocked around 2,00,000 km till date have some problem related to the engine. Its switch off automatically if idle is low. And its very hard to start when its off, the kick starter seems to have low compression. Now my local mech says the cylinder & piston has done, and needs replacement. But the problem is I am not able to find the kit (cylinder, Piston) anywhere, local Bajaj store says its out of production. Just checked the spark plug, its shows good brown color, how it be possible? If the cylinder and piston losses its compression, then engine oil should reach into the combustion area, thus leaving black deposition in the plug, but its quite clean, i doubt my local mech try to make me fool.

    What your views, please share.

    200, 000 kilometres! That is a lot of mileage from a two wheeler in India. I hope guys here can help you out.

      ^^ Thanks kenda, for fast approval, the odo is already resetted two times after doin 100000 km and now it around 45000 km so total will be 245000 km, no problem at all apart from the reguler service.

      Guys please help, cause its two stroke and i have not any idea about the engine, so, its all to you guys.

        If scooter is running on stock or company fitted cylinder kit then i can say this is a miracle.It means ur dad maintained scooter very well.But 250000 kms can ruin other parts like electrical,magnet coil, gear selector and carb slide.
        Last genration 2St Chetak and bravo's cylinder kit is almost same as ur classic sl.There is difference between these scooters carb and front shock system but other engine mechanical parts r same.PLUG cant tell whole story of engine's life or malfunctioning.

              If u don't believe ur local mechanic then go to authorized service center and also get checked ur scooter by different mechanics.After various report on ur scooters condition by different mechanics u know what is the main prob and what is necessary to repair or replace.IMO cylinder kit,carb slide and main current coil need attention.this is just a guessing job bro as u know without firsthand test ride or inspection no one can figure out what is the main prob.

                2.4 L awesome its a RECORD...its a RECORD.... bajaj should be proud of them self and should give there thank's to your dad actually my dad was also a chetak lover he clocked 1 L in city(NOIDA) only now after begging him & kafi sunne ke badh he agreed to sell chetak and brought him self a new honda aviator now he says why didn't i do this earlier....this scooter is awesome....
