    Swing Arm replacement for P180 UG#

    Dear friends,

    I own a P180 UG3 which has done 10k kms, i've the stock MRF zapper rubbers but i'm not comfortable with my rear on hard brakings and the bike tends to do a FISH TAILING when i attempt any hard braking's. So now i'm planning to increase the Wheel base by changing the stock rear swing arms to that of a P200's. Is it an adivisable one?.. Kindly help me out guys..

      Well, I have a P200.
      The swingarm should be a direct fit on to a 180.
      BUT...
      the catch here is, even if you do install that swingarm, the bike will still fishtail. My bike ALWAYS does that. And I have the stock tires.

      Now if a 200 also fishtails, what gain could you get by changing your swingarm? Possibly a new set of tires (or just a rear one) that is soft compound will help... someone here fitted the R15's tires on his 200 and reported the sliding had stopped completely. The swingarm's heavy as well.

      I'd say skip the swingarm. Put some nice tyres.

        I would second that. Plonk in the R15 tires, the rear grip should be enhanced. It is a direct fit for our bikes. Also it will cost you relatively lesser, 2150/- and prob 200 rupees labor.

          ^The only disadvantage is that your bike would look like...
          ..like.. say an elephant with legs of a giraffe, ,but hey, function over form, what?

            I would question that, the R15 tire and the stock 180 tire are of the same width, only difference being the profile on the R15 tire is lower at 80 compared to 90 for the zapper.

            The only flypside to my suggestion to replace your tire with R15 tires is that it is 'advisable' to replace your front to tubeless too. And for this I would suggest none other that the R15 front

            Amazingly grippy tire man! total cost would be
            Front tire - 1750
            Rear - 2150
            Labor - 400
            Total - 4200

            But definitely worth the investment IMHO! You can thank me later

              Upgrade to a better Rear Tyre will help and put some weight on it, like putting a Disc in the rear will help..
              Replacing the swing arm will be no good!.

              Yamaha Alba's or Galdiator's swing arm wil be good!!

              200 and 220 have same kind of Swing arm but it is different from 180's, it is not a direct fit but can be fit,with some jugards!

                Errrr.......Pulsar 200 sports an elliptical swingarm and p180 UG3 sports a rectangular one. Even the length of both of them is different. So its not a direct fit. Do not go for this mod, it would alter the whole dynamics of the machine.

                Moreover, rather than going in for the whole swingarm change....as suggested by most..get your tyres changed to Pirellis or michelins.....or even R15s...

                And do not expect a miraculous change.....Pulsars do wobble and dance around when braked hard....!

                    try softer suspension setting while you are at your usual street racing session. .

                    pulsars not so good rear suspension is another reason for instability.

                      Yes, there has to be a difference...but the 'jugaad' is always there right?
                      So it IS possible, although not too effective.
                      In fact this is a major complaint that I have about pulsars...even a little rear drum lock and the bike will go to one side. Now I have never ridden the R15 but maybe that does not skid to the side like the pulsars do.

                        For changing two tyres? The local mrf dealer here does it for free when buying new tyres and that too on a tyre-changing machine. or are you including cost of tubeless valves in the labour?

                            Are you talking about the R15 tubeless tire set? Really hard pressed to imagine tubeless tires for those prices!!
