  • piston kit for shogun

    hi guys,
i'm getting my shogun (1999) re-bored, besides restoring it to look like stock again. can someone please suggest a piston kit to go for and where i can find one (in bangalore)?
"SAM" is what my mechanic suggests but i read somewhere in one of the threads that this isn't that good.

    thanks in advance...

You need to look through your telescope for over size pistons for shogun very hard and rare in market.

Be rest asusred for crazy quotes if u get one

Raccoon sam and usha are pretty heavy when compared to ART stock pistons.

Hmm... ok. I know they (ART) are better... but didn't know they are heavier. Getting them (and probably the price) will be the only problem. Sam is easily available.

if you are not worried about changing the piston after some time, go for sam. It is cheap and not too bad. Try to keep the engine cool by re jetting, coz sam wont feel good when the engine heats up.
If you can find an original ART, then dont worry about cast and go for it.

A mech told me today, that ART pistons for Shogun are available in Pune. Haven't actually seen them myself, so cant confirm. So its likely you may find it there, if you look around.

thanks to vasanth, i picked up an ART piston and SGP rings (0.5) from a genuine TVS spares store. the piston costed me 1.6k and the rings 1.5k.
