  • HELP: Air Screw(carburettor) jammed in Karizma

    Hi all,

I used to get my zma serviced at Castrol bike zone in Banaswadi, Bangalore.
During the last service, the mechanic informed me that the Air screw of the carburettor is jammed and could not be adjusted.
Due to unavailability of spare(the air screw), I have been using the bike as it is. I have also done a couple ~400 kms trips in the same condition.
Now that I have got the spare, I see that the bike zone service center is closed!
I am not aware of any good mechanics who could do this job in Bangalore. Please suggest a good place where I can trust my motorcycle is in safe hands.

I would also like to let you know that on the trips, the only issue I found was the bike would struggle to cross 115Kmph, it would behave as if it was out of breath.

Any help from you is welcome.

    Thanks in Advance.

im guessing the bike is running lean thats why. does the engine feel to be very hot ( than normal ), and vibrate more???

You can take the bike to any good mechanic who understands the issue. i had the same problem once, when the air/fuel screw head got damaged ( despite me telling the mechs to use the right size screwdriver ) . The screw had to be extracted by one of the local mechanics who took it to a workshop and got it done.

Just make sure that the thread does not get damaged, since this is the most critical part of the carb, or else 4,500 bucks for a new carb.

        Thanks for the approval, SKSy_Biker.

jd666, thanks for your comments, really appreciate it!
Yeah, there are some vibes at 110Kmph, not much though, and the engine doesn't feel abnormally hot.
One thing I wasn't sure about, whether the mixture is made rich/lean by THIS air-screw?
And taking it to workshop means to a CNC machine or something?

Guys, if anyone could suggest a good mechanic for Karizma in Bangalore, that would be of great help to me.

why dont u get it fixed from HH service center itself. I had lost it once and got it fixed from SAI motors.

HH Service Point would be best to get the Bike serviced,

I had similar issue on my Uni's carb Air Screw got jammed while tuning and the mechanic tried drilling out and ruined the Carb, I had to buy a new Carb costing 3500/-

i had similar problems on my ZMA...however the air-mixture screw was removed and was unable to get the original replacement...looked for it every where in Delhi and BLR but am unable to get one...Is the replacement of the carb the only way. HH does not have this part for over 8 months now.....

@Rockkyyy: Thanks. I used to go to Nikki Motors, but was unhappy with their service. Guessing SAI is good. You have a PM.

@ Akshay: Will try this option before going to the foundry as Deepak mentioned

@ Race_Developed: I recently bought this as a spare and hope we have plenty of these at least in Bangalore HH Service centres.

                  Thanks for all your replies
