  • after market air filter r15...

    hey guys,
i've sent this as a post in previous threads, and kept 'googlin' for the past few months bt never got an answer... has anyone installed an aftermarket airfilter in the r15? wht were the modificATions required to carry this out? i've heard from somewhere tht after u install the airfilter, if we disconnect and connect the battery it'll automatically adjust the air:fuel ratio,, is this true? if nt where can i adjust the ratio? i hav the k&n r1100 in mind, any suggestions?
    thanx a lot..

Hey though I do not own a r15, but i know that the stock filter is good.....no need to change it....if you change the filter...it would harm the engine.....(as r15 is a ECU controlled bike, the ECU cannot cope with the extra air coming, so the performance can detoriate or the engine may get harmed....if you want sound then go for the dagrex exhaust by yamaha..... )....

this is true that R15 it self has very good A/F but R15 is Fi bike after market A/F does harm a little by sucking dust partials in engine but exhaust they also harms the engine...many of us don't know that after market exhaust reduces the engine life sahajsharma said that go for dagrex exhaust but this exhaust is way to expensive
my opinion go for the K&N A/F R-1100 = Rs2400 you will feel the pick up punch i my self using and knows how well it works...
if you like modification and performance then you have to sacrifice something....

Bro after putting K&N a/f i replaced my spark plugs to iridium changed ignition cable to splitfire...i am using 117.5 main jet of P-180cc removed the air filter box connected it to carb by hose seal the carb-hose-k&n with elfi...now my p-150 jumps to 95 in 4th gear and 120+ in 5th gear 120+ if i am wrong or my meter shows wrong reading....
and the bike sounds awesome like as if i have fitted nos to it when i changes gear at high RPM...

                DO NOT DO Anything!!!

If you want to replace R15's filter, take an injection and punch holes into the paper filter around 4-5 small one's on every side..
or put a Uni_foam's one layer to give it better flow, do not put anything like a K&N.

Is something wrong here?? My 200 even with all these mods is struggling to touch 120+ in 5th gear, how come a pulsar 150?? I dont think so, although there is a slight bump in power initially cos of all these mods, that doesn't go all the way to 120+ on a 150. Right mate?

You guys seems to know a lot but still felt like tossing my two cents. Most of the Indian Fuel Injected bikes are using Cheap Open loop FI systems, these systems doesnt have a Lambda or O2 sensor in the exhaust. So in layman terms fitting a performance air filter to R15 is not gonna give you any benfit whatsoever in terms of performance. But you can be assured of a better intak roar.

PS: This particular topic has been discussed to death here on Xbhp, you should have searched a little harder.

                          +10

I have been running a R15 on a K&N for like 2 weeks and Yes it will help you with a small amount of midrange, but will loose its top end...

PS: I was NOT running the K&N for any PPM (*Poof* Performance Mods) but used it ONLY because my paper filter got fkd by the SVC guys... and I had one in spare!

That is indeed a very nice thing that you have posted but Bandhav if he would have searched it he would not even have posted the thread,

Hence when did not bother to find it, he would not be taking any pain to understand what is an open loop or a closed loop F-i system..

So i just posted my views in layman's term to explain not to anything to it!
                              i think i posted it correct,aint I.?
