  • HELP: Sound from rear axe (guess) oy my UNI

    Hi guys,
My uni is almost a year old got the 4th service done recently.Just before the 4th service there was some kind of intermittent noise from the rear. I'm not sure if its the chain or shocks or axle. The noise does'nt depend on the road surface or anything. I hear it only when i let the engine throttle down. i've shown it twice to the guys at city honda, Bangalore and at the end of the day he says he dismantled everything and put them back together and found nothing. I scared abt doing long distances thinking the prob might lead to something bigger. Help me out wid ur suggestions.

    Thanks

u may try to phrase the sound with words ,so that nature of sound can be understood

Is it a kind of a humming sound? And does this sound disappear past 60Kmph? If yes then there is nothing that can be done, I have have my rear wheel opened at nearly 7 mechanics and they all say there is no problem with the bike or the rear wheel. The prob was then showed to my trusted mech by the name Reddy who is pretty famous among the Mumbai Junta, he too asked me the same thing and confirmed that nothing can be done, so like me you too would have to live with it, I know its annoying but there seems to be no options.

oh one thin i forgot to add ; when u drive close to the divider in the road , what happen is that the sound of working mechanical parts of wheel gets reflected back to the rider via road divider and u ear nice humming sound as well as khat pat of chain if chain guard is there.. make sure ur not misunderstanding with that !
worst case will be ur bearings might have worn out.

1)Its not mechanical sound bouncing of a median or anything.
2)i said i hear it when the throttle is dropped bcoz i think i'm not able to hear it otherwise bcoz of engine noise.
3)It sounds like a mechanical TWEET and its not bcoz of a loose chain striking the case.
              4)Its not a continous sound.
This morning after posting the thread showed it to the mechanic and there was no sound!! Came home and went out again and it started again.
I know it sounds dumb but i'm worried abt bearing probs. But confused if it may be the shocks doing it.
But my bike's done only 4K kms.

Guys sorry for not replying for so long. I've finally understood what the prob is. The front and the rear brakes were having contact and were causing the sound.
The issue with back brake has been resolved but the front wheels are still making noise.
Everytime i go to the service center, they rub the pads with sand paper and the problem starts after a day or so.
Is there a better solution to this problem because the service guys dont have any other idea to solve it???/

Well i think getting them replaced is the only solution left.....My rear break gives the most amazing music.... is if i am playing some kind of instrument.. long constant buzzing in the morning for first 10 kms then dies down.

                      Noise from wheels.

I always have this noise coming from the rear wheels of my Maruthi 800. This happens after driving through water or after a wash. Found the brake drums getting slightly rusty. I operate the hand brake a couple of times and the sound disappears. Are you getting the sound after a wash or riding in the rain.? could be the rust.
