  • New Pulsar 180 : Few Minor Issues and confusions

    Hi all

As some of you might be knowing that i bought Blue P180 UG IV yesterday

Thanks again to all of you for helping me in deciding

As I am new to pulsar So I have some Doubts
    1. Most important What is The tyre pressure that you guys keep in P180, Manual says (F:28 R:32) in psi, why its so low, even my old Glamour had (F:25, R:35).
    2. I am facing some trouble in finding neutral, at Second when i push down I am in 1st and when i toe up i am again in 2nd
any tip on this will be highly appriciated.
    3. Which is the best Bajaj Service center in new delhi, as within one week i will be going for my 1st service
    4. What precautions Should I take during 1st service
    5. Which engine oil does service center guys use, Will that be fine ??? any recommendations?
    6. I am also planning to go for teflon coating during 1st service
Any other suggestions and care tips are highly welcome, as i really want to take very gud care of my baby

To Mods:I have only started new thread because AFAIT it was not right to post queries in my old [what Bike] thread.

No Matter Whether Guys buy 220cc Pulsars or 350cc Royal Enfields,
It is used only to follow a 80cc Scooty Pep...

      Congrats for the new bike........

1:yap even i use the same tyre pressure in my Pulsar & driving it from last 4 years but mine is P150 05' model

2:Its not a problem to bring ur bike in neutral only the thing is when u are in 2 gear just press it down very gently towards 1st gear & u will get the neutral if u push it hard definately it will go in 1st or in 2nd gear as the case maybe....
slowly you will be comfertabe.. coz pulsar changes as u drive slowly & after the first service you will feel the difference......
3: Seniors mite tell even m finding for the same coz m an outsider dont know much about Delhi.
4: Just try to be with your bike & always have an eye on it
5ont know about the service centre that which oil they use coz in Delhi some of them use castrol & in Noida dont know about others but 1 is using Elf Gold which i prefer in my Pulsar. M regularly using Elg Moto 4 Gold & i feel the power in my bike.....

please use P180 ownership thread for your question's
        1) i also own p180 ug4,Tyre pressure depends on many factors you can keep it 25,30(as of my bike), or whatever makes your ride feel comfortable to you, or go for 30,35 no problems or go with company...

2)well bajaj have notchy gearboxes, as your bike is new you might find diffucult nuetral, same was case with me, if you want to shift from 1st gear to neutral then just give a slight touch to the gearshifter donot force it to much otherwise bike will shift to 2nd gear...
4)during first service, no major precautions other than problems you have sorted out in bike,, ask SC guys to clean oil filter it is very must during 1st service...
5)they use 20W50 for p180, it is recommened for a new bike(till 2500kms) to use oil provided by company before switching to any aftermarket brand

i dont bother bringing the bike to neutral..itz hard...so when the bike is in 1st gear i simply kill the engine ..and then i shift to neutral.
btw ,,this doen't work in traffic .n.in emergency situations...my bike is 180 ug3 and is 1 year old..still i am facing this problem..

First Congratulations on you new ride.

Regarding the gear shifting, i felt its easier to find Neutral with a slight nudge when the bike is in motion, rather than coming to a halt and then juggling 1-->2 or 2-->1, searching for neutral. Try coming down the gears, as you reduce speed. 1 thing that i aim for is to reach neutral by 5km/h on the speedo. Not that I am looking at the speedo, but thats more like a reference point. Though, this if from an RTR, however i am sure, it would help on your Pulsar too.

@Petro & @ abhi : Thanks Guys for your congratulations and valuable sugestions

@ Mash Thanks Bro, will try to follow your Tip

@Ceasar, Is it good to use engine kill switch all the time, as in manual its written that it should only be used in emergency situations, BTW: what type preasure you keep in ypur P180

Now Just completed 100kms (107.9to be exact)

In the evening when I was leaving office I notices that yjere was a scrach on right side of my tank, looks like some #$%@#$#$ brushed his bike wid mine.
I am really pissed of at this moment.
Now guys please help me out how to remove that, i tried wasing it with plain water but no use
Will teflon coating help or any other method , Please recomend something.

              Few more queries
Even in Neutral my bike dont have a constant rpm
its keeps going up and down form 1.5K to 2 K
              looks like bike in Breating
              Is it normal ???

During running period we have a upper limit of 4k rpm (My bike touches 55 at this point), So similerly do we also have a lower limit ???
What i am trying to say is, currently I am shifting very quickly to higher gears, So sometimes I pickup from 19kmph in 5th gear, Is it OK

try teflon coating it could hide the scratches or try scratch remover from formula1 it mught work if scratch are not major or creeped off the paint...

regarding RPM, its common to all new bikes RPM keeps on varying, donot worry about it after first service bike will show its constant nature(RPM)
                .

no man 19kmph 5th gear on a new bike, donot do that just switch to required gear avoid such things, and your bike will remain healthy for a long time..

most important thing during runin is

donot keep running bike in one gear or RPM keep changing gears and RPM too...
