      Tappet setting means adjusting valve clearances. The lash between the valves and the cam shaft is adjusted by adjusting the tappet. If it is not proper, problems can occur. Loose tappets will mean dull top end performance (above 5k). Too tight tappet will mean engine stalling at lower rpm and lack of power across the rev band. So, it should be set properly.

        Yes, ride the bike, with tank lid unlocked, not fully open, and if the bike still dies.

          hello,
          got my bike 2 days back
          all problem resolved,
          they have changed the relay,ask me to change the battery(i have done that)
          but the third problem(abt bike stopping) not resolved,they are saying some part(fuel pump ) inside the fuel tank need to be replaced,but due to unavailability in stock they will change it after diwali..............
          they said not to drive bike in reserve till that time.
          todat when my bike petrol comes to reserve,some sound start coming from the tank(like sound came before we take the self of bike)with some petrol tank vibration............. i dont know now what they have done

          pls help............

              he says
              1) regarding self problem he changed the relay....thanks ajinkya
              2)regarding oil problem.......there was oil leakege acc. to him(i dont he his write or wrong)
              3)major problem abt bike stopping........he says petrol filter was blocked due to bad petrol(but i have changed fuel filter before 10 days from same workshop with all pipes and i am using speed petrol.)

              i have asked him to check the bike again and i have given him 1 more day....because i live 85km away from that workshop.

              I also have 220 DTS-FI 2008 model. I also faced the same problems of bike stopping. My bikes fuel filter was clogged with black mud, probably due to bad fuel. I stopped fueling my bike from my regular petrol pump. But the problem persisted even then. I had eventually replace my fuel injector. The bike is running now but still there's a minor problem. Once in a while my bike's speed suddenly drops as if it went out of fuel. No one is able to understand the problem. I've already spent 5k on my bike's recent problem. No Idea how many more I'll spend to get the problem resolved. But I think DTS-FI is problematic and probably that could be the reason Bajaj discontinued it's production. If any one has solution for this problem then please share it with me.
