  • Wierd sound from Exhaust in RTR FI

Sorry guys I have raised the issue in RTR/RTR FI ownership thread, I thought this might be the best place for raising issues.
Mods: Please delete/Merge this thread if it does not suit here.

My RTR FI has one issue but the service guys could not able to fix it (Probably they might not understand what Im trying to say). While moving from 1st gear to 2nd gear ,If there is any lag between the clutch and the throttle operation then a wierd sound (tup) is coming from the exhaust(might be the un-burnt air and petrol mix not sure) , But no issues in other gears. If the throttle and the clutch operation in sync then the sound is not coming, While riding in the traffic Im coming across this sound often. Whenever I say this to the service people they say they have tuned the CO. Please help out guys for finding the exact reason behind the scene.Otherwise the bike is awesome .

I think its a backfire. I dont know how to explain it. It can be caused of a lean mixture as well.

or it could be unburnt mixture burning in the exhaust, but why only between 1st and second.

@krishna - does it happen when you zip off in first and shift to second at high rpm??

ya exactly.I usually move from 1st gear to 2nd gear in-between 4k -5k rpm , If there is any lag in the throttle response then the 'tup' sound will come. In the normal condition (when i dont rip the machine) it behaves normally. I have even changed my style of riding in the bike for this issue ( very quiet in 1st and 2nd gear ). I dont find this issue in my frnd's carb. Just curious about the exact problem (service ppl are not aware).

              misfiring with u r RTR

Just place two or three packing at exhaust mouth. there must be one packing in the head for silencer. just try to increase it by one or two number sound should go.

Thanks guys for your inputs, Today I went to castrol bike zone in search of the solution . They said which ever bike you raise the throttle fast then leave and accelerate again you will find the un-burnt petrol will be burnt in the exhaust only. They said it is a not problem with the bike , but with the way of riding . I think I need learn my riding again

Did u not find the answer in RTR ownership thread? Thats a character of the RTR silencer. It boasts of the widest pipe and its very free flowing without a cat-con. Its very common. Stop bothering about it and enjoy it! Nothing to worry about....
