  • New Tyres for my Pulsar

    Hi,
I own a Pulsar 150 DTSi 2004 model. The one with spokes wheels (18 inch). The rear tyre is thin in comparison with the newer models (alloy wheels).

I went to 2 shops and asked for tubeless. They said they do not have tubeless.
He said that cant fit 17inch tyres without changing the rim. I dont want to change the rim and would prefer 18inch tyre as that height is comfortable.

He said 1800/- for TVS tyre 100/90 18 inch and other guy quoted 1650/- for the rear and 1000/- for the front.

    Query:
    1. Can i get tubeless tyres (18 inch)
    2. Cant we fit 17 inch tyres in my pulsar without changing the rim
    3. Is the price quoted alright?

Want a bigger rear tyre for better control over the bike.

Also if you are aware of any place in mumbai where i can get tubeless tyres.

    Thanks,
    Subu.

        1. You need alloys for tubeless.

        2. Not possible.

        3. Heavily overpriced. try different dealer.

Stay away from TVS Tyres. If you dont have any issues with the stock tyre sizes on the bike, then its always better to stay with that size. Have a look at MRF or Michelin.

You could also have a look at the discussions in the Tyres thread.

well I have the same bike as that of yours........I changed my rear tyres to MRF Zapper Q 100/90 ones...it cost me around Rs.1450/-, they are soft compound tyres....

IMO u can opt for a 100/90 or 110/90 ones.............. if you want more broader tyres you might have to remove your chain gaurd

the zappers would be the best bet for you. get a 2.75 R-18 for the front, and a 100/90 R 18 for the rear.

17 inch tyres on a 18 inch rim, dude, simple math, not possible.

I second on this. I recently changed to the same tyre. Its pretty good. And about putting wider tyres in a pulsar, you dont need to remove the chain guard. Previously i had a 140/15 tyre . BTW my ride is pulsar 180 classic

                      Hi,
                      Thanks for the replies.
Also my question 2 was stupid ...sorry about that.

I went to MRF authorised service and he quoted 1350/- for 100/90 R18. Went at around 8:30pm and he was closing.
Will go tomorrow morning and get this.

Also what about Dunlop. It will cost 1600/- (110/90)

I guess MRF is the best choice and rightly priced too.

                      Thanks.
