  • Wrong Oil used

    I got a Pulsar 220 Dtsi
I changed my oil to Motul 3000T 20w40
I read later that 20w40 is not recommended and i should use
20w50, should i change it immediately?
    will it cause any problems?
which oil i should go for?

Not a big problem. You can comfortably use it, but do change it early say by 1.5 kms, and in this period ride sanely and don't rip your bike. BTW How many kms old is your bike?

there shouldnt be any problems if engine does not get too hot but the 40 grade oil is less thicker and will provide lesser protection for the engine components .the fact that you are still in run-in should also be taken seriously . lastly why take a chance on your new bike for saving a few bucks .

How and why did you put a oil bought by you, from the showroom, the SC has give you oil with a new bike?

Anyways, DO NOT WORRY, nothing will happen, don't waste money. Because its your first service, just change the oil at 300-400Kms. As it is you cannot ride at more than 5K RPM.

In fact I have used 20W40 few times on my previous P180 which also needs 20W50 and even ran for about 2K Kms.

there's no scary problem here. If you are in run-in period and are not straining the engine by revving hard or runing for longer, no hell is going to break loose.

Motul 3000T has 20W50 also. You can use it. But you need 1.2 liters (I think) of oil to refill. You'd have to buy two cans ans use 1 full + 200ml from another. Or go to some SC where they use a good oil of the required grade (can be the PBK too ) and get it changed.

                            now 1 last question

Will the mixing of different types of oil <companies too> cause any chemical locha??
