  • TRK Japan Piston for RX 135 4S... need input

    Hi

I'm thinking of getting TKR Japan Piston kit for my RX 135 4S. Currently have standard bore piston kit. Got quote from TKRJ for my bike, they said would ship within a week at $90 per piston kit.

Friends.. need input if this is a good choice

Please let me know the pros and cons of TKR Piston kit.

    Is it worth?

why so costly? you get OE pistons here in India, then why TKRJ? its not worth a deal as TKR is ok quality.if it is for a RD i can understand cause the stuff is rare to find.

for curiosity sake TKRJ is shipping from the factory?

It is the standard size am talking about. T.K.R.J. / MOTORCYCLE and OUTBOARD such as PISTON KIT and CONNECTING ROD KIT is their website.

The Jap guy gave me the model (4Y2/AY0750X) for RX 135 however, i was not able to find match except for the OEM# 4Y2 in the above website.

          Any idea....

I have no idea why it should be so expensive. Your question on the OE availability... I'm just trying to find out how different are they when compared to Indian manufactured one.

Yes. The representative was from Japan and he stated the ordered would reach from there in a week's time.

You could easily get an ART piston for half that price and still save enough for a connecting rod. And ART is light years ahead than TKR in terms of cast quality and durability, not to mention lighter weight.

              To each his own though

Interesting.I thought there is no ART piston for RX 135 4S standard barrel. I may be wrong too..

Can you try giving me the web link or the contacts for knowing more about ART piston?

Nopes ART pistons are available at yamaha showrooms here but only 1st and 2nd oversize, after that only reliable piston is goetze, if u can afford the high cost you can go for tkr.

Please let me know in terms of performance ART versus the Esorts piston (current) the following:

                        Power
                        Mileage
                        Durability
                        Life
compatibility with the standard Indian bore

What needs to be taken care while installing and after installing the standard size ART Piston?

I might have asked dumb questions, however, only trying to learn and practice the right method.

ART is superior to Mahale (which is Yamaha OEM) in evry aspect that you mentioned above. Goetze or whatever is not worth it...Mahale is better.

                          ART piston is better cause
                          • Its metallurgy is better.
                          • Its anodising is superior.
                          • Its lighter.
                          • Expands lesser as compared to others.
                          • Runs damn smooth and noiseless as comes with a fantastic gudgen pin.
Things to take care of when going for ART.
                          • Rebore and hone has to be perfect..I mean PERFECT!!!
                          • Specified clearence is a must.
                          • Proper run in required and ample lubrication (as with all rebore run ins)
                          • Its avail in 0.5mm and 1mm only, unlike mahale which is avail in increments on 0.25mm...so you have only two rebore as compared to four with mahale.
Find a good...really good mechanic who knows what he's doin and go for ART you'll love it. TKR? Bad idea

Revert in case of further clarifications

You cant install standard piston...need to go for 3rd over size if you go for ART
