  • unicorn,pulsar220 fi and activa problem

I owns a honda unicorn which i purchased on 21 june 2008 and has done 15000 kms. my problem is that the next day from its purchase i found a strange problem in it which is when i passes any pit or speedbreakers my bike start moving left and right like a pendulum but only for maximum 100 metres and when i goes to the service station they said that it is simple wiring problem and soughted out at the first service and they are right it got corrected but now it again started doing this ocassionly (otherwise the bike is faboulous and also i learns to do rolling stoppie on it thanks for the xbhp stunters suggestions), now the honda guys have no answers and when i ask them for the fork oil they said it is all right.please help me because after passing a speedbreaker if i by chance takes a long turn while accelerating it surely makes an accident.I also have a honda activa which after 10000 kms my father rides and it has clocked 23000 kms only and my only fault is that i take it to castrol for servicing they make a bill of RS1000,they said its timing chain needs to be changed and i also payed them as i take a lot of care of all my vehicles but just after around 500 kms after the servicing its started giving white smoke and when i take it to honda they say it required complete engine work and they asked 8500 for that ,i give it to honda but was the price justifiable and without roller test will its fresh engine going to last that much as the brand new lasts and what precautions i have to take to save it so that it do not give any trouble again except from overload and overspeed.
Also i have a pulsar 220 which is serviced recently and have brakepads changed 600 kms before and without anything its front brake stops working. when i asked to the probiking guys they said its disc has to be changed .it has only done 9000 kms guys suggest me what is the problem. Also just after 1000 kms of riding its performance including pickup goes down to just half (even if its chain is tight) and in 2nd gear even unicorn leaves it behind and probiking guys says that it is because 220 fi has a problem of ...something CO2 level and they say you cant do anything except after 1000 kms come to the service station and we correct it absolutely free (they said in superbikes there is a kit in the silencer and because of the budget bajaj dont put it in 220 fi and you cant do anything about it)WHAT WAS THAT ??????is bajaj gone mad.I mean....why dont they tell it at the time of purchase

pulsar 220 fi speed in first three gears is-

    1st gear-15km/hr
    2nd gear-59km/hr
    3rd gear-78 km/hr AND

unicorn speed in first three gears is-

    1st gear- 18 km/hr
    2nd gear -62 km/hr
    3rd gear-84 km/hr

it is serviced regularly and also engine oil is changed every 2500 kms and i never overload it.I think the myths about bajaj bikes are true and i think owning a bajaj bike is a curse .if there is anything wrong and you guys understand the problems please(infinite times) helps me,i am really thankful to you guys.

No offences, but it seems like all bikes you've got, have some problem or the other. Lets try to talk about them out one by one, OK? And while we're at it, I'm sure a lot of other more experienced xBhpians would pour in their own suggestions and comments:
        1. Unicorn: Do you brake when you hit a speed breaker? If you do, is it the front-brake?
        2. Activa: NO idea about why the white smoke's been coming out man. Could your engine be burning oil? I am not sure but it seems like the oil-seal rings in your engine might have been burnt/torn off, causing the oil to slip into the engine's combustion chamber and thereby get burnt... but then again, that's just a guess.
        3. P220: I think you'd rather wait for someone else to answer that one.

All the best with finding your answers man.

Thanks for your reply.ok if i somehow forget the troubles in 220 and activa as i am going to pay for activa tomorrow and for 220 i think its disk pads may be worn out or something else....but what to do with unicorn and also i dont use only front brake during speedbreakers, service station guys already checked everything and as i said that this problem occurs ocasionaly so it is also not possible to eat their minds everytime and thanks again ,i am feeling little bit reliefed now.

Looks like a loose steering cone/worn out front bearing problem.

I also have a honda activa which after 10000 kms my father rides and it has clocked 23000 kms only and my only fault is that i take it to castrol for servicing they make a bill of RS1000,they said its timing chain needs to be changed and i also payed them as i take a lot of care of all my vehicles but just after around 500 kms after the servicing its started giving white smoke and when i take it to honda they say it required complete engine work and they asked 8500 for that ,i give it to honda but was the price justifiable and without roller test will its fresh engine going to last that much as the brand new lasts and what precautions i have to take to save it so that it do not give any trouble again except from overload and overspeed.

Get the compression test done. Then, change rings/valves as needed.

Also i have a pulsar 220 which is serviced recently and have brakepads changed 600 kms before and without anything its front brake stops working.

If you describe it like this, sorry we can not help you. Please add more details. Why were the pads changed? What are the problems you are facing now? Stops working?!

when i asked to the probiking guys they said its disc has to be changed .it has only done 9000 kms guys suggest me what is the problem.

It is the O2 Lambda Sensor. Even the R15 does not have it. Set the CO2 level properly and performance will return.

Disc pads are changed because i do a lot of stoppies on it.when i take it for servicing they say your disc pads are worned out and needs to be changed .i say ok and when i go in the evening to collect the bike i ask him that everything allright in the bike he say yes but be gentle on the discs because disc pads are new and takes some time for adjustment.when i ride it i found that discs are just working like the worn out brake shoe of the hero honda bikes but as he says i think it might gets corrected after some kms but even after 600 kms when they are not working properly i take the the bike to the probiking station and they say that might your disc is faulty and today we have a lot of bikes for servicing so come tomorrow and when yesterday when i reached there they say that oo ho!!! Your fork seal is broken because of which oil is poured inside the discs and it tooks around 400-500 bucks for complete cleaning of discs and replacement of fork seal(what the hell!!!!!!)why dont they tell everything at once.and yes if you know why fork seal is broken without any reason please tell me (is it because of doing stoppies )but if it is it should have to be faulty before the service.i really got confused .please reply.

If the fork seals were broken and oil fell into the disk, the whole area will be oily. Is the disk oily? If yes, then you will have to remove the source of oil leaks, clean the disk and get the pads changed again. If it is not oily, I guess, air bleeding needs to be done. And please, dont go to the same SVC. They seems incompetent.
