  • RTO charges to enter Orissa

    HI all..
m planning for a bike trip to Chandipur, Panchalineshwar and around in Orissa by da end of December covering around 600kms...
i hav heard of some legal and illegal charges being collected for 4-wheelers at da border to enter Orissa..
so i just wanted to kno whether any RTO or other charges being collected for 2-wheelers to cross da border... and do i need to have any kind of NOC or or other certification for a 2 days stay in da state...????
Actually m not aware of any formalities that shld b followed for a interstate ride.....PLZ HELP

      neednt worry at all

1st of all i welcome u to Orissa netime at ur convenience.see u dont have to merge the concerns of 4-wheeler along wid 2 wheeler.the charges are diff for both.i went to IIT kharagpur from Bhubaneswar wid my bike once.near the Orissa-West Bengal border, i stopped for a while and asked the concerned person in the counter, whether i needa pay ne sort of charges or not?? he said no to deprive me from paying ne charges.so my experience says one doesnt need to pay charges for a 2-wheeler class.but the scenario may get different sometimes.for exp-they may act strange when a West Bengal person wants to enter Orissa.so i would suggest u to carry a NOC wid u which may help u in hostile situations.and yes DL,bike registration proof is a must for u and do also get ur identity proof card.Ne probs feel free to contact me on [email protected]

We went to Orissa last month. No. they did not stop us for a single time during the whole ride. But during night, some guys were checking our number plates and let us go. But we saw the cars and trucks being stopped. Do not know why.

Problem is we cant generalise the situation as it's not always the same.It depends on the type of cops.If it's your bad day, then you might become a prey of the corrupt officials. Happens, everywhere!!
