    unicorn engine mod!

    unicorn engine mod!

    thinking of installing gearbox of zma on unicorn .. with a rebored 194cc setup .

    can any body confirm if it is direct fit or not??
    and what is the cost of zma gear box??

    why i think it will be good:-

    unicorn has good stroke as well as greater PR [3.35:1] where as zma has much greater stroke but comparatively less reduction [3.090:1] .. this difference actually i feel is quite big .. and there characteristics at crank's smaller gear is almost same just the difference of cc's.
    so i guess gears of zma may be well suited to unicorn and itwill be a whole new bike as well .since gear ratio of zma varies to as low as .8 so we have greater head room for sprocketing adjustment as well .

      hey guys ! another doubt!!

      suppose we want to change the engine characteristics and shift the RPM at which the engine attains it's PEAK TORQUE . then how can it be done..

      btw
      sprocketing does not alter engine chars ..

      so
      which variable has to be altered??

        can u explain me how the engine can be rebored to 194cc

        sorry i do not have a idea of gear ratio swapping & if im right need not change all the gears go for 1st gear & 5th gear b'coz the ratio of uni in these gears r short..........

        if u shift the torque curve the power also change............one more thing the torque is really high in uni caompared to any of the bike in the range.........

        so too much of torque will not help u to gain speed & it will cook ur clutch in a jiify way when u wring the throttle

          AFAIK ZMA Clutch plates are retrofit to Uni. Have no clue how the bigger gearbox (in size) will fit on Uni.

            You vary cam profile/valve lift/exhaust tuning/intake tuning. Each of these affects the power characteristics of an engine.

                Bhp IS directly related to torque.If you can produce more power up the rev band, your torque at that portion of rpms will increase too.

                  more torque and peak torque is different dude. Am interested in shifting that peak torque to upper rev range.

                    Well, AFAIK, if you do any of these mods and increase power/torque at higher rpms, torque at lower rpms will naturally decrease - such is the nature of these mods. Maybe others can help you better!

                              dude if the WORD has offended u man i apologigs for tat...sry friend... though i have read that thread many times. nearly all thread in orkut and spend allmost weeks to search and read abt theories of performence gains and mods... and every where pessimists drive me numb .... i was looking for constructive replies and hardly get any ....
