    Pulsar 180 gear problem, doesnt shift

    I have a pulsar 180 2006 model, the problem is my gear... it doesnt shift at all, I have to keep moving it up and down with my feet(for atleast 10-15times) just to get it from one gear to another... i've taken it to mechanics, few of them just tightened something on the clutch cable, didnt help at all though.. one of them said that it could either be a problem with my clutch plate, gear lever or both... which could come upto Rs400 or Rs800(if both have a problem)..So i want to know...

    1)Is it really a a major problem that requires almost 800 bucks of shelling out?? or does it sound like a minor problem that could bhe fixed with few tit-bits(I dont know a lot about bikes, so there could be a chance they're trying to take a little more money)
    2)If it is a problem with clutch plate or gear lever, then is Rs800 rightly priced? or can i get it done for lesser?? Any place in bangalore that issues these kind of problems???

      How old is the bike?

      How many kms have you done on it?

      When was the last time the clutch plates were changed? How long did the last set last?

      When did u get the bike serviced last? What oil was put? Was the oil changed?

      A lot could be responsible for such stuck gears, but internally it could be worn out gear shifters ( dogs as they are called ), or maybe the clutch not engaging or dis-engaging properly.

        well, the bike is around 3 years old, done around 15000kms on it
        I've never had to replace a set of clutch plate before, in fact i've never had to replace any internal part of the bike, this is the first time in 3 yrs of riding my bike i've faced such a problem

        well... its been quite a while now since i serviced it, nearly a yr i would say, cos i've been in and out of the state, so never really found the time to... not sure bout the oil, the oil that these bajaj service guys put in my last service is the oil there at the moment

        Gear shifters huh??? got any idea where i could get them fixed in bangalore??

          ^^ First get a service done as per the approved process in the user manual.

              ya will give it for service soon...
              but the problem is just servicing the bike wont address the issue, so what i want to know is what exactly is the problem with da bike, so that i can accordingly let the service center know...
              I really dont know a lot bout bikes and such a problem has never happend to me b4, so i dont know where exactly the problem is originating from...

                one year..!

                No offenses. but its high time you serviced your bike..!

                For all you know you might me very very low on oil and every km you run you will be damaging the internal mechanical parts of the engine.

                Get it serviced ASAP. Most of your problem will be done with by then if no other damage is done already.

                just curious , how many kms since last service ?
                - You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!
