  • 2007 P180 DTSI Brake Light

My brake light is not activated with the rear brake.

It works fine with the front brake, and it lights up with the night switch (if thats whats it's called). With the night thing on, the front brake makes it brighter, but the back brake makes no difference.

Where is the brake light switch for the rear pedal? Shouldn't that be the culprit?

I downloaded the P DTSI Workshop manual and its smaller than the user manual!!! The R-15 manual in jd666 's signature has 338 pages with detailed diagrams, this has 37 pages!!!!

And one Q out of topic: What is the consequence of running the bike with oil ABOVE the MAX line?

The rear brake switch on the pulsar is located behind the right sides foot stay below the RHS side panel. Replacing is a 5 minute job and is easily available with most spare part shops. According to your description yes it can be the switch.

I have heard that when the oil is above the max line ie above 5mm it could harm the valves and cause the oil to leak from the head. If your running on excess oil would advice you to get it checked and reduce it as required. The pulsar engines take in 1 litre oil , just for your info,.

Thnx for the advice on the location. I found it behind the right cover on the mud flap.

Fortunately it hadn't gone "kaput". The spring had slipped from its groove on the pedal. I removed the switch assy, cleaned it, put the spring in place and "ITSH VARKING".

It is a pain to remove that with the silver frame in place. (the thing with the pilllion foot rest).

And about the oil, i inserted a small clear tube into the oil filler hole and siphoned out oil till it wend down to the MAX mark. It wasnt much just about 20% in a 600ml soft drink bottle. But atleast now i can rest easy.

          Thanx again all.

            Good!!

GOOD U HAVE DONE IT CONGO CONGO.
            NOW ABOUT ENGINE OIL
METHOD TO CHECK IT--LEAVE THE BIKE IN MAIN STAND FOR OVERNIGHT,AND IN THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE TAKE OUT THE OIL GAUGE AND WIPE IT OFF WITH A CLEAN CLOTH REINSERT IT AGAIN,DONT SCREW IT,TAKE IT OUT AND CHECK.

a funny story about bajaj pulsars engine oil.well as of you guys all know it takes up 1 lit engine oil by default, but as the pulsars engine oil sump is quite big it can take additional 200-300 ml of engine oil with ease.its seems odd but as many of you guys should know its one of the easy way to treat pulsars bad gearshift in some models.i also when i came to know at first thought that it will create probs etc but it dosent, some of the classic pulsys are runnin with close to 1.5 l engine oil onboard and the gearshiftquality changed in a very positive way.i have a ug 2 pulsy 180 and i am a tourer,i always use 1.1lit of engine oil ,my bike is 5 yrs old and still touchwood no probs at all.
