  • My Clutch plates and OverHeating

    Heyy all,
I own a 2005 ZMA. Done 30,000 on the ODO. I have being having this problem of overheating of the engine (not the usual heating up- this one is literally boiling). On inspection, it was noticed that my entire clutch kit was worn out. So I got it changed shelling out almost 2.5k at the Castrol Bike Zone, Audugodi, Bangalore.
Here are my views after the changes

    1. Engine is still heating (boiling rather) esp on the left side.
    2. The initial acceleration is great upto 3800 rpm. After this the bike is almost DEAD. It struggles so hard to move and it takes AGES to reach 100kmph ( this issue wasn't there before clutch plate change)
    3. After setting idling to 1200rpm and riding for about 10km, the rpm stands at 2000rpm (idling).
    4. I feel my bike is choking and struggling to move.
    5. After a few km's of riding, I idle my bike and I get this burning smell.
I spoke to the mechanic and he says the clutch plates need to get adjusted. That will get adjusted after around 50-75km of riding.( is this true). he also says the engine is perfectly alright.

Any inputs from the Guru's out there???

Mods: Could this thread be moved to the ZMA/ZMa R thread after a day or two?

Don't waste time brother, take the bike to svc station (HH) and get it rectified...

It is obvious that you became a 'bacra' in the hands of CBZ. I have heard number of Zma owners who screwed up their bike at CBZ. It is because the CBZ allows mechanics who are not expeienced in handling these issues.

The solution? Fight with the CBZ people and threaten them that you will take the issue to the higher authorities. Else, just go to service center people and explain them the problem.

How about going to the HH SVC and finding out what the problem is and then taking the bike to Bike zone again and threatening them to rectify the problems.

First go to CBZ, politely ask them whats the problem and express your dissatisfaction with them. See how the responds. Then threaten them that you take this matter to higher authorities at CBZ.

If you like to go peacefully, just go to HH Service center and explain everything and ask them to rectify it. They would be able to do rectify your problem.

                Yeah...
But any wild Idea why the overheating??
I still have all the spares which was replaced.
If I find out that I have been CHEATED, i wouldnt mind going to the extent of even suing them.

Seems that there is a meshing problem. When they replaced the clutch plates were they ZMA plates (HH genuine). a simple 1mm difference could mean they are rubbing.
suggest you take it to the ASC and tell them the story.
CBZ are known to screw up things like this simply because they cut corners. I have seen that happen before.
YOu mentioed that the bike is not able to pull efficiently. This actually indicates that the meshing is not properly done. Please take your bike to the ASC before this worsens.
Dont leave the BZ guys, take it up with them

CBZ methodology of svc'g is different(not right), I heard that for gold svc all parts on the bike are stripped off for cleaning and again assembled back, this is not correct, small amount of improper torque on a nut can affect bike in a big way. Hondas svc'g philosophy is just do basic checking and replacing of parts in question.
As Ravi said, even I have heard many guys screwing up their Zmas at CBZ. Better avoid CBZ.

But I think problem number 1 & 5 may be related.
Your engine's oil pump can be faulty.
Improper oil circulation may be causing these issues.
This is as per one of the HH SVC guy.

You better show it to HH SVC.
And make sure you make them understand problems you are facing.
