  • Pulsar 180 (UG4) Gear Shift

    Hello,

Need some help here! I got myself a new Pulsar 180 (UG 4) about 1 week now. The problem that I am facing is with the Gear shift. It is mainly with 1st gear to 2nd gear, the rest is smooth. I am a kind of worried since I am not sure if there is a problem with my bike. I did inform the dealer about it and they said that it is normal and with time it will become smooth. I am somehow not satisfied with their answer and am looking for your help.

Pls let me know if this is normal or there is a problem with my bike.

Thank you in advance for your advice and feedback.

    Regards,

The gear is very hard. Its only after 4-5 tries that it shifts. Also, at time when I am on first gear, it simply goes to neutral without even touching the gear.

Itz a normal nature of Bajaj bike. need not to worry about that as your bike is new,It will have some hard gearshifts and try to shift at 3K+ RPM for smothness in gear, I follo the same practise in my P180 UG4.
do post your review and pictures in the pulsar 180 ownership thread shown below.

I suggest you get the first service done quickly at some 500 kms itself. After the oil change, start & idle the bike for 1-2 minutes...
This should solve the hard shifts. IT happens, so don't worry ...

But, do inform the Service Centre about it before the service. They don't do anything if you don't inform ...

Secondly, about bike shifting to neutral by itself, its a natural for Pulsar UG3 atleast. You can just keep your foot on the lever, and reshift to 1st if that happens again ... Just be prepared for it...

well... i've had a P18O UGIII for 3 years now... not had an issue with the gearbox... u prolly need to tap it firmly into 2nd gear when u're upshifting... just a lil nudge won't do... takes a lil getting used to.

but if u still have an issue shifting to 2nd once u've tried this... have the bajaj guys look into it at ur first service.

Probably because there is already a thread for this. Also please 'avoid' using slang and sms language (da,dis, den, etc).
Though you can use short forms like AFAIK, IIRC (but rarely).

The problem you have, is common to quite a few UG4's. It seems to be something the ASC is aware of an will resolve. Please visit the service center before it escalates further.

                          Hello All,

                          Thank you for your Help.

I have changed the engine oli and the gear shifting has become a little smooth or may be I am getting used to it..!!

Now, I am facing a new problem and that is when I am on first Gear at time it goes to Neutral on its own. I am not sure if this is a problem or something that will go away with time. Once again your Help and advice is required here.

                          Thanks!

The problem is that your 1st gear might not have engaged properly, it happens with me too sometimes. so try to tap the gear fully while engaging gears.
