  • pulsar 180 alloy wheel break ( after first service)

    hi Frens,

this is the problem that i faced after riding for few days of my new pulsar, i just brought is one month back the newer version of the pulsar 180 with black alloys.

i was riding at a speed of 70 when suddenly i bumped through the brick that was lying on the road and that lead to a little crack on my front alloy wheel.

I wonder if that would be covered in GUARANTEE by Bajaj.. as the bike is merely a month old and just first service is done.

i tried to get it manufactured but all mechanics said that it is beyond repair.
and air is getting deflated real fast.
kindly guide me to deal with the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Ankit.

This should be covered in Insurance

+1 to that, Claim insurance, you'll get almost the entire cost covered since its a new bike and the part is metal, so less depreciation. And no it is not covered under Warranty/Guarantee by the company (Bajaj).

Yes go for Insurance..its very easy..and yes that accident might have damaged the sealing of tire n rim thats why its getting deflated soon, so dont do anything with tire..change rim first

What will a new rim cost? I am asking because, if you claim insurance, you will not get the NCB (no claim bonus) and as it is new bike, you will automatically become a higher risk customer and thus might have to shell out a little higher premium.
However, if the Rim costs more than 1500 (which I believe it can) then go ahead with the insurance claim
It is not covered under warranty (no company gives a guaranty) as it is physical damage.

            hey
very very thanks guys.. for your valuable inputs and the time you took to reply my query.. but frens. i got to know that only 10% would be covered under warranty...and not all.. (through the bajaj showroom service manager).

anyways.. going for the repair today. lets see what it takes.

few time back i came across a query where some guy on Yamaha r15 also broke his alloy in same way... dont' know exactly who he was... but here on Xbhp itself i read his case.
boy if you reading this can you tell me how Yamaha dealt with the case.. ?

isnt' it that Enkei is manufacturing week alloys.. or maybe i am riding them hard.. :P

How could that happen , i have also faced a few pothholes at speeds ov over 80kmph in my P180UG4. but,My alloys are still intact.
There is nothing so serious about the matter as you are considering.
I remembered a few years when my brother's star city faced an accident and its alloy was bent, We just gave the bike to SC , signed some papers and that's all they changed the alloy on the same day and we got the delivery of the bike without shelling out a single penny out of our pocket.
itz a metal part so you will get 100% claim and donot go with the SC guys if they tell you that you need to pay a insurance processing fee.

Call up your insurance company. The number must be on the papers. If it is a crack, it is safer (considering the speeds at which we ride sometimes) to replace than to repair.
The insurance should be covering this part as it is full metal. (even plastics are covered upto 50%)...

Get the alloy replaced asap. Try to replace this under warranty as your bike is new. If they don't accept it, then you can go for insurance.

hey thanks... kenda, ripper, lockhrt, motorcyclist, abhi and moeed..

it was great help from your side...

today i went to bajaj.. and "argued" about the bike insurance..
i had a talk with the surveyor he first sad that this is the case of " user mishandling" and so guarantee won't be given.
After more of quarrel he agreed...

at present they were not having the alloy and so bajaj has placed an order to headoffice, might be within 3 days they will replace my alloy.

Right now i have to pay for the alloy from my pocket and within 15 days they will provide the insurance claim. Atleast this is what they promised right now.. hope everything to be fine.

thanks Xbhp mates it was a great help from your side.

i did the write up but as i pressed the refresh button the ligth went away.

now again i am writing the same... for all my xbhp mates.. and in the way of doing it as a step by step process.. .

                        1. go to the person in charge of the giving you the guarantee and he will take care of you .
                        2. he will take you to the "insurance surveyor".. now there is a catch in it. the more comfortable your relations with this "Bajaj person of insurance cases" are the more he will help you in getting the claim passed. And i suppose all of you know how to make good relations with the bajaj person involved in between.
                        3. The service manager of the store will tell you who that mechanic is who is handling the insurance cases.
                        4. My Bajaj mechanic was like fida over us in one meet itself... rest he was dealing with the case as if it was his bike.
                        5. He told the surveyor the story that the bike was damaged due to accident.. ( we were telling the story that we rode it fast.. and bumped it on a brick.. then one of the insurance company surveyor told us that the case would be of "user mishandling" and so NO insurance will be given.) but soon the bajaj mech. involved in between changed our story to a real genuine accident saga. and then it was his headache to get the claim passed.
                        6. we were informed the second day that our claim has been approved.
                        7. today i picked up the bike from the center .. we know the claim has been approved 100% alloy wheel charge will be covered.. and the alloy wheel will be replaced when they have a new wheel in the store until then we have to wait. .. so its waiting time.. coz service center (here in ghaziabad) is not having the alloy wheel of the new pulsar 180... lets see... fingers crossed .. but hope till this monday it will be replaced...

                        hufff... !!!
                        long write up indeed...

                            WELL..
                            for getting an insurance.. always
                            - tell, i was riding at below 60.
                            - A car suddenly cut my way and I went in a pot hole.

                            Never:
                            - I was riding above 60.
                            - I was the only one involved in accident. like I hit a wall.. or i went in pothole.. or I bumped.

Always say a bugger car wala forced me to change my way.. or hit and run and caused to fall.. etc etc..
