  • unicorn suspension problem

hey guys. i have a 2005 uni (bought used) . i feel that the rear suspension is quite siff ie resists movement. even after adjusting the preload (hard soft) i didnt find any appreciable change. the ride is uncomfortable. my dads scooty streak has a far better suspension than this.

my question is is there any way by which we can reduce the damping (comp & rebound)of the monoshock ie by filling it with low viscosity oil. etc. cuz i think the suspension is overdamped.

    seeking advice. thanks

Unicorn's suspension is slightly hard compared to GRS but that is required for better handling as well.

And there is no way u can refill oil to Honda's mono shocks. The grade of oil is not revealed. Its use and throw. New shock may cost between 1500-1700..

I am sure manu uni owners have felt the same thing, but guess they have learnt to live with it. i think there is no easy way out of this xcept for going for a replacement.

Even if you buy new also, it wont soft !! Very soft suspension gives bumpy ride. I am happy with what I have but pillion will suffer a bit

who said uni suspension is stiffer, lil bit but not like HH & RTR's

u should change the set up accordingly

              there r 3 setups

hard - really hard to be there

both the world 2nd setup - it is stiff & soft good while braking & taking bumpy corners

soft - it is so soft has the engine, gearbox, clutch, but this no no for fast corner it will just the wage the tail like a whale does & not good when the pillion is aboard

not exactly stiffer but i think its over damped. it gives a smooth ride at low speeds ie when ther is enough time for it to follow the road suface but at normal speeds the ride is not good particularly solo riding. gets ok with a pillion . try comressing the rear & u will observe it comes up a bit slowly than others.

when will indian manufacturers give us shocks with adjustable damping?

replacement over what .. is it not working !!

u can get softer feel with varying tyre pressure <30 , setting preload to soft.

this minor details are at almost last priority and there are many things that are to be imported on a indian bike other then just just a adjustable damping .. dont u drool over those nice inverted forks , rotors in pair at front and that inline 2 - 4 or L setup ,liquid cooling etc.

What I feel is that, with a pillion suspension works much better then most of the other rare suspension bikes in the market, but when driving alone with not too much weight on the rare side, suspension is stiffer then rare suspension bikes... may be something to do with the Monoshocks??

unicorn suspension is lettle bit hard but its handling is superb. you just set it to its last level to soft position thats all. Actually unicorn suspension is very heavy it is designed to with stand any type of bad road condition. you dont worry about this keep riding your unicorn friend
