A tuff-up tube is..well..basically a tube, just like the normal tube So you cant keep your tyre tubeless, which is obvious.

The difference b/w the normal tube and the tuff ups is that the latter contains slime (a liquid substance which assists in providing some obstruction to an external entity)stuck to its inner sidewall which provides resistance to nails/stones etc. Not that the tuff ups never get punctured; They do, but less in comparison to the tubed ones. That is why they cost ~400, which is almost double the amount of a normal tube. Hold a normal tube in one hand and hold a tuff up in another. You will get to know the difference by the texture of the two.

        Freakout4321, dont freakout

On a more serious note, dont worry. Ride carefully and get the tyre pressures checked with time, as such tyres have a tendancy to lose air faster. No sweat

But like I have mentioned, it is advisable to get a tube for a tubed type tyre for trouble free riding.

        Happy riding!

lol.. thanx guys, u cant imagine how much i was worried with it...

I just talked to an authorised service dealer (i went to a local dealer to be exact), told him about my situation and he said, yeah i was cheated, as for 18 inches, they dont have tyres available in tubeless anywhere in delhi, further i was quoted high for the price (i paid 1300 for it), though thats my fault, i should have checked properly.. furthe... there's a strike relaed to tyres, so they are currently out of stock for every brand (thats what he said).. as for the tyre, yeah, they fitted tubed as tubeless and they surely will leak air somehow.. they advised me to just get a tube whenever leakage occurs and just run as it is now... and for any problems in future, they can take the tyre back if am dissatisfied with the performance (only if tyre life isnt down by 50%).
Well, i will be riding as it is at the moment for a while, when leakage occurs go for a tube

P.S. : the guys i talked to were from Amar Wheel Mart.. they really were understanding people and helped me out with every query

and yeah learned my lesson, never be in hurry and never ever go for LOCAL DEALERS..

It is still a tube. Here is an excerpt from a Honda Press Release:

            ----->
The Tuffup tube design prevents the sudden loss of air pressure by sealing the holes or cuts made in the tube by any piercing foreign object, like a nail, with the help of a sealant.

The Tuffup tube has a two layer structure consisting of an air compartment and a liquid sealant compartment. The two compartments are independent from each other and the liquid compartment covers the outer side of the air compartment's surface through 18 0 degrees.

The liquid compartment is filled with a newly-developed water soluble sealant consisting of non-toxic fibres and powders. An anti-freezing agent is also added to the sealant to prevent it from freezing in high altitudes.
In the event that a nail pierces the tube, the liquid sealant instantly oozes out into the hole. Due to the elasticity of rubber, fibres in the sealant become sandwiched between the nail and the tube. The sealing process is assisted by the powder that fi lls the gaps between the fibres and the liquid. Should the nail become dislodged, the sealant seeps out and seals the hole.

Due the air pressure the liquid sealant cannot enter the air compartment, even when a hole is punched between the air and liquid compartments. Should the fibres which have been sealing the hole fall off, the sealant will seep out and the process will beg in again.

Honda has said that long term user tests have proved that the Tuffup tube handles 90 per cent of all punctures in Japan. On the other hand, short term user tests, that were conducted in India have shown that even in the most rugged terrains and roads, th e Tuffup tube can handle 70 per cent of punctures. The company, in the meanwhile, is in the process of conducting long term user tests in the country.

BTW, I have checked your bike's photos only now.

From this photo I can see that there is a tube in your rear tyre and there is no tubeless valve fixed. I can be wrong as there are some metal valves available for tubeless but this one looks in brass-ish shade like those on tubes.

Hard to find for the front, only available for the rear. Though check with Honda, the older unicorn also had tuff-up (3.00 * 18).

The rear is a excellent tyre for offroading! Will grip well on the road too, so dont worry.

Front : Well since you have the got the same size, it wont affect the handling; So doesnt really matter!
