  • Yamaha FZ 16, gear shaft gone starting day one, any one facing same problem

Hi All, I bought Fz-16, dec 2008, from PICK UP Yamaha, Gurgaon, the worst dealer on earth, as they have "hatoda mar" (really just visit to see how they service the bikes) mechanics to service Yamaha bike. The rear wheel of my bike was tight so the mechanic brought a hammer and hit the axcel but " he got hitting on his head from me also". In chain set they will put burnt engin oil inplace of putting good quality chain set oil. And this same dealer had R1 in his showroom to sell. Just pray for one who will buy that bike. My bike has just gone 3000 KMS in last one year, in every service I reported that gear transmission is not fine, and I can not come out of two or three gear in one clutch press. But there were no mechanics with this dealer. I got it checked at Noida dealer, the mechanic suggested to replace gear shaft as it is not working fine as in some other FZ-16 also. If anybody have any suggestions please advice.

I talked to Noida dealer for this issue and he will get the gear shaft changed. He will get it by 20th and will repair the bike in warrenty. He promised he will get it done in warrenty, even if he gets late in getting the parts. (Warrenty will expire on 21 Dec, 2009).

I surely won't go back to Gurgoan dealer......

I doubt if it is really a gear shaft problem, or its just a clutch setting problem which yamaha mechanics are not able to understand.
Today when other mechanic checked the bike in same dealership, he said its fine. But finally they replaced it wilh new one(original). But I am facing the same problem with the new one also. When I shift to lower gear, when I press the clutch and got to 4th gear, then in same clutch press if I got to 3rd gear, its stuck. Now I have to leave the clutch, on doing this there will heavy knocking sound near the gear and the chain, and now bike will be in 3rd gear after this knocking sound.

"I am sure this is usual proble with most of the bikes as mechanics are not able to understand and detect the problem."

A solution will help lot of us, as I talked to some of my friends riding HONDA bikes having same problem.

pm me your number, ill call you tomorrow and help you get a way out. you can get in touch with a service engineer from yamaha, he will help guide you. Dont get any work done from outside, since your bike is still in warranty.
